Christian faith-based non-profit seeking Licensed Professional Counselor Associates.
Provides direct services, including psycho-educational and therapeutic services, with an emphasis on prevention and solution-focused outcomes, to assigned clients in the realm of individual and/or family counseling sessions. Assists clients in dealing with a spectrum of issues associated with mental and emotional health, including but not limited to family, parenting, and marital problems; self-esteem; stress management; substance abuse; and minimizing/mitigating risk of harm to self or others. Ability to work evenings and/or weekends as needed to accommodate clients' schedules.
Essential Tasks and Duties:
Understands and adheres to American Counseling Association (ACA)-approved Person-centered theoretical orientation Understands and adheres to the ACA Code of Ethics, as well as rigorous professional standards and confidentiality requirements as outlined by the ACA Understands and adheres to all applicable state/federal laws and the requirements of other regulatory bodies Conducts assessments and develops treatment plans to define treatments and interventions Conducts counseling sessions, evaluating effectiveness and modifying as required Maintains and meets expectations for a caseload up to the number of service hours requested Completes all clinical documentation and record updates within 72 hours of service delivery, adhering to all governing laws and confidentiality and/or governing body requirements Facilitates client/family referrals to external community resources as appropriate Maintains awareness of issues and developments in the social services/mental health industry through professional literature, attending courses and seminars, and maintaining professional networks within the community Ensures continuity of service provision, providing adequate notification to and/or alternative arrangements for clients when necessary
Earned Master’s Degree in counseling or a closely related mental health discipline such as psychology or social work from an accredited post-secondary educational institution South Carolina licensure obtained through passage of the National Counselor Examination (NCE) or the National Clinical Mental Health Counseling Exam (NCMHCE) Proof of completion of annual Continuing Education Units (CEUs) as required by the licensing board, regardless of licensure status Satisfactory passage of criminal background or other check(s) as defined by state, federal, and/or insurance payer requirements, as well as initial and random follow-up drug screens Valid driver’s license reliable vehicle to travel to sites required for service provision. Continuous vehicle liability insurance in the minimum amounts required by law. Individual professional liability insurance in minimum “$1Millon and 3 Million” aggregates Fluency in reading, writing, speaking, and comprehending English; bi-lingual (particularly English/Spanish) may be beneficial United States citizenship
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
Self-directed ability to follow directions, manage varied requirements, and meet stringent deadlines is imperative. Working knowledge of the current edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM), as well as knowledge of therapy modalities, service provision, crisis management, and the complex needs of children, adolescents, and adults experiencing trauma, stressful, or dangerous situations. Skills in assessment, active listening, social perceptiveness, cultural and socio-economic sensitivity, time management, coordination and prioritization, customer service, and computer proficiency (including internet access and ability to scan, email, and upload/download documents). Also requires skills in effective written and verbal communication, inductive and deductive reasoning, sound judgment and decision making, critical thinking, and developing individualized therapy approaches. Demonstrated ability in maintaining confidentiality, learning new information, solving complex problems, and interacting respectfully with clients, client family members, external agencies, and the community at large.
Demonstrated ability to communicate professionally verbally as well as in writing, including use of complete sentences, correct spelling, grammar, and subject/verb agreement.
Ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds Position does not include hiring or supervisory responsibilities unless separately contracted
Contracted position; includes no express or implied employer/employee relationship or benefits. However, clinical supervision for licensure is provided free of charge.
