Director of Operations

Innovative medical devices manufacturer with one-of-a-kind technology is looking to hire an Engineer ready to take her/his career to the next level. Responsible for all manufacturing activities and facilities, the Director of Operations will lead the implementation of new processes, design transfer from R&D for new products and process improvement to meet new regulatory requirements. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Develops strategic plans for area of responsibility and communicates with superiors to make decisions for operational activities
  • Plans and ensures allocation of resources necessary for the execution of the operational activities
  • Plans and monitors the day-to-day operations to ensure delivery of quality products in a timely manner
  • Identifies supply sources and manages relationships with external vendors
  • Provides technical, logistical and planning expertise to Operations and all departments within the Company
  • Ensures cost effective measures and budget compliance; develops cost saving initiatives to meet or exceed financial performance requirements and to improve product yields
  • Evaluates overall performance by gathering, analyzing and interpreting data and metrics, and reports to the senior management
  • Develops and implements plans for continuous improvement
  • Ensure implementation of Operations-related corrective and preventive plans
  • Provides guidance to subordinates
  • Leads and motivates staff; promotes employee involvement, operational excellence, and foster positive organizational culture
  • Ensures provision of necessary equipment and facilities to support day-to-day operation; ensures implementation of maintenance programs to prevent equipment malfunctions and process delays
  • Adheres to and ensures compliance with company policies, including quality, safety and environmental standards as outlined in Company’s internal policies and Quality Management System
  • Actively participate as a member of the Company’s management team

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Advanced knowledge of facility, building, and production systems within medical or healthcare systems
  • Excellent understanding of medical device or pharmaceutical industry regulations and standards (US FDA CFR, ISO 13485, MDD, etc.)
  • Excellent collaboration and teamwork skills
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Excellent leadership, problem solving, decision making, organizational, and time management skills;
  • Advance proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Life Sciences
  • Minimum of five (5) years experience in a management position for a manufacturing company
  • At least three (3) years experience with a quality system (ex.: ISO13485) and FDA/CE regulated environment.

Preferred

  • Two plus years of experience using Expandable, SAP or similar ERP system
  • Two or more years experience in medical or healthcare operations
  • Master’s degree in Engineering or Life Sciences
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, Six Sigma, 5S, etc.

Travel

  • Up to 25%
