About this Position:
We are seeking a Senior Hardware Engineer at our Fairfax, VA or Concord, NH location.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Leads in design, implementation, and testing of mixed-signal Printed Circuit Board (PCB) and Printed Circuit Assembly (PCA), utilizing High Density Interconnect (HDI) and high-speed (> 1 GHz) components/circuits
- Schematic capture
- PCB layout and routing
- PCA integration, test, and debug
- Leads full life-cycle design in one or more areas related to embedded hardware / electronics design such as:
- FPGA / signal processing PCAs with tightly coupled memory interfaces
- High-speed (Gsps) data capture and conversion (ADC/DAC) PCAs
- High-speed (> 1 GHz) interconnect (backplane) PCAs
- High-speed (> 1 GHz) clock distribution and synchronization
- Support and enhance existing embedded hardware primarily at the Printed Circuit Board (PCB)/Printed Circuit Assembly (PCA) level
- Collaborate with a cross functional team to design, develop, and test new hardware/firmware/software; as well as support and enhance existing systems
- Establish firmware, software, hardware interface requirements to satisfy overall product performance goals
- Supports interfacing disciplines such as firmware, mechanical, RF, hardware, integration & test, and project management
- Member of hardware, software, and firmware integration team – validating that all three design elements work together to satisfy the requirements of a project
- Member of design verification test team to ensure that the firmware designs meet their performance requirements
Member of the product verification test team to ensure that the resulting system meets the product’s performance requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Certification: MS or BS in electrical engineering with a focus on circuit design, signal processing, and/or high-speed interfaces
Years of Experience: 10+ years of experience in embedded hardware design
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Experience in aspects of the hardware development process, including requirements specification, characterization, simulation, high-speed digital design, signal processing, schematic capture, layout, routing, testing, and integration.
- Demonstrated mixed-signal circuit card assembly development experience, from concept to delivery, utilizing High Density Interconnect (HDI) PCBs and high speed (> 1 GHz) components/circuits.
- Experience with circuit simulation, circuit analysis and signal integrity tools/techniques
- Experience (as applicable) with FPGA and microprocessor development including hardware descriptor languages (e.g. Verilog, VHDL)
- Experience with hardware integration, test and debug tools (logic analyzers, scopes, emulators)
- Knowledge of PCI, PCIe, cPCI, VME, and VPX standards (VITA 46 and VITA 65) and demonstrated experience implementing in embedded hardware
- Experience with Hardware engineering processes and standards, and product configuration management system
- Proven communication/interpersonal skills and ability to be a strong team player
- Ability to be granted a security clearance
Desired:
- Experience with Xilinx family devices, including Zynq UltraScale+ architecture highly desired
- Experience with design for extremely demanding/rugged environments (e.g. high temp, shock/vibe, etc.)
- Experience with writing test software in C/C++ or assembly language to test hardware
- Experience with schematic capture and PCB layouts using Altium design tools within IPC standards
- Familiarity with embedded Linux development
- Familiarity with Linux kernel module and driver development
