Who you are:

You are a person who provides analytical support to colleges to improve student success (i.e. retention, graduation, and student loan repayment). You are one who can create and manage predictive call and communication metrics in support of Trellis Student Outreach Support team which helps participating colleges with retention, re-enrollment, and student loan repayment campaigns. Customize reports and presentations for Trellis management, college leadership, policymakers and others concerning student success trends and the effectiveness of Student Outreach Support efforts to promote student success. Responds to strategic requests for reports from college leaders and Trellis management. You have the ability to share insights on Trellis strategies.

The position opening is located at our Corporate Office in Round Rock, Texas.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The expectation is to perform the following essential duties and responsibilities of the position with reasonable accommodation.

  • Develops a scoring analytic system to assist the Trellis student outreach support communication plan with students and borrowers, such that resources are directed to those with the highest need/benefit.
  • Develops analysis, research projects, and outward facing thought leadership to inform institutions of higher education and policy makers about the default aversion.
  • Develops processes to streamline and scale analyses.
  • Communicates regularly with members of senior campus leadership, the US Department of Education, and other stakeholder groups, and collaborates with these stakeholders as needed.
  • Proactively seeks thought leadership and innovation to better position colleges and Trellis, as leaders in student support.
  • Provides written and verbal updates to stakeholders on research analysis project implementation and progress.
  • Participates in institutional and organizational strategic planning conversations.
  • Serves as the Non-Primary Data Point Administrator (DPA), performing timely downloading of data from higher education institutions as needed.

Non-Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Acts as a prudent data steward by ensuring compliance to all relevant data sharing policies, managing data securely, optimizing data processing, and clarifying data with clear documentation.
  • Adheres to common project management principles and best practices.
  • Provides training, presentations, and reports to campus staff as needed.
  • Performs all other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Education/Experience Required:


  • Required: Bachelors Degree in business administration, social sciences, economics, statistics, public policy or other related area.
  • Preferred: Masters Degree in business administration, social sciences, economics, statistics, public policy or other related area.



  • A minimum of five years in research and analytics
  • A minimum of five years management reporting (i.e. written analysis; table and graph creation; and verbal presentations to management). A Masters Degree in business administration or social sciences may substitute for three years of management reporting.
  • Experience with SAS data step (merging, transforming data)
  • Generating reports using SAS Output Delivery System (ODS)


  • Experience supporting under-resourced institutions of higher education
  • Experience working in institutional research, enrollment management, student affairs, academic affairs, or student services
  • Experience working with student data sets and student retention analysis
  • Experience in student success / retention initiatives
  • Experience with consulting or other client facing engagement work
  • Experience managing multiple large-scale research projects

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong research and writing skills
  • SAS programming or equivalent level as demonstrated competency via SAS Institute or Trellis administered tests
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to pursue and accomplish multiple analytical tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently, depending on project needs
  • Ability to be discreet/maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to work under pressure and consistently meet deadlines
  • Knowledge of research methodology, strong communication skills, and research skills
  • Ability to solve problems independently
  • Client/customer service and ability to communicate with non-research audiences
  • Ability to effectively develop Microsoft PowerPoint presentations
