Job Description

TCS World Travel is hiring an Aviation Director. This is a new position which was created to oversee and manage our aviation partners who are responsible for sourcing, maintaining and operating aircraft in the delivery of our award-winning luxury private jet expeditions and custom travel business. The Aviation Director will report to TCS World Travel’s President and work closely with other members of the Executive Team. This position can be based in Seattle or London.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage airline partners:

  • Ensure all deliverables are met related to aircraft sourcing, maintenance, and service levels per the terms of our contract
  • Develop, rollout and manage to service level agreements with all airline and charter aircraft partners and their vendors/suppliers
  • Lead all pricing and contract negotiations with new and existing airline and charter aircraft partners
  • Develop and execute onboarding plan for new aircraft partners and their vendors/suppliers
  • Minimum of quarterly on-site visits with each partner to review KPI reports and necessary actions and timelines to address current issues/challenges and future opportunities

Identify aircraft solutions:

  • Work closely across all key departments (e.g. Operations, Finance, Sales & Business Development, Custom Travel, etc.) to understand key requirements and to identify optimal aircraft solutions to meet them
  • Develop and maintain a portfolio of charter aircraft that can be used on an ad hoc basis to meet custom travel business needs as well as urgent AOG issues
  • Work with the Travelopia compliance team to ensure all aircraft are approved as being “airworthy”

Process improvement and reporting:

  • Develop and lead quarterly maintenance audits ensuring that partners are held accountable to contractual obligations
  • Develop, compile and present quarterly KPI reports to assess what’s working well, what issues or challenges need to be addressed and future opportunities
  • Develop partner accountability for all TCS obligations per the contract (e.g. hours, notice periods if we want the aircraft for longer etc.)
  • Develop risk management procedures and mitigation strategies and standards for AOG occurrences, and actively manage through solutions when required

Training and leadership:

  • Develop and coordinate airline crew training programs for all TCS-operated product lines
  • Supervise, mentor and coach internal TCS staff

  • BA/BS in Business, Finance, Engineering or related field preferred
  • 10+ years in the aviation industry including experience in Part 121 or equivalent, ACMI leases and charter aircraft
  • 5+ years in partner and/or account management
  • Ability to travel 25-35% of the time
  • Strong leadership skills and previous management experience
  • Strong negotiation skills with proven experience in executing complex contracts
  • Ability to self-motivate in a fast-paced, rapidly-changing environment with competing deadlines
  • Proven ability to develop new ideas and creative solutions
  • Superior communication skills and the ability to express complex ideas succinctly and clearly
  • Highly analytical with an ability to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines
