Automation Engineer

WE ARE SEEKING: A well-rounded mid-level Automation Engineer who shares our entrepreneurial energy to support the team’s efforts in adapting our current systems into commercial products. In your role, your duties and responsibility will include the following:

  • Meet with engineers to discuss electrical and automation processing requirements for chemical and mechanical systems
  • Conceptualize, engineer, design and document automation processes for chemical systems.
  • Develop and install automation software
  • Define and document prototype test requirements
  • Analyze and interpret test data, and prepare technical reports
  • Make technological improvements and be a leader in product optimization
  • Participate and frequently lead brainstorming and concept development sessions.
  • Provide analytical assessments of prototype chemical systems
  • Conduct tests to assess prototype performance
  • Follow all safety training and procedures
  • Ability to conduct hands-on work which will mostly be conducted outdoors.
  • Other duties as needed


The ideal candidate should be able to meet the following requirements:

  • BS in Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, or Software Engineering or 5 years or more of relevant and documented experience
  • Ability to define problems, collect accurate data, and draw valid conclusions
  • Experience in commercial product development in an engineering environment
  • Experience in writing and debugging ladder logic, structured text, and other ISO 61131-3 languages
  • Experience with provisioning PLCs and creating projects for Allen-Bradley (Rockwell), Siemens, and Unitronics PLCs using the Studio 5000, RSLogix 5000, FactoryTalk View SE, TIA Portal, UniLogic, and Inductive Automation Ignition platforms
  • Strong electrical engineering knowledge and proficiency with AutoCAD LT
  • Strong knowledge of safety controllers, and the NFPA 79 and UL 508A standards
  • Willingness to support all team members and perform any job function when necessary
  • Highly motivated, self-starter with a desire to get tasks done on time and without errors
  • Ability to conduct basic physical requirements of climbing ladders, work at elevated heights, ability to lift 40 lbs., and ability to use basic hand tools
