TraVek is looking for an experienced Lead Carpenter to join the Project Management division of the company. This position is responsbile for managing 5-7 jobs at a time while maintaining timeline and budget. Ideal candidate will have working knowledge of all facets of a remodel, and be a hands on manager, working with employees and subs alike.
You must be experienced in all facets of residential construction, with the skills and abilities to manage a wide range of remodel projects from the ground up, while paying excellent attention to detail. Phone and Truck included.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Must be able to do take off's from plans
Must be able to build out schedule, including but not limited to subcontractors, TraVek employees
Multitude of miscellaneous hands on work on various projects throughout the week.
If jobs are accepted by the Project Manager, then the Lead Carpenter is to enthusiastically take on new jobs as a challenge and to see what mechanisms they can employ to get the job done according to TraVek’s standards, within/or under budget, and within the time-frame estimated for the project.
The Lead Carpenter realizes that the job is not completed by TraVek standards until either:
The contract and any additional change orders are paid in full
A completion certificate is signed by the customer
The Lead Carpenter is to follow all the Policies and Procedures provided to them in the Employee Handbook.
Must keep the members of the TraVek team’s integrity in mind at all times with all conversations and during all decision making processes. It is important to take care when talking to the customer, always remembering that our Sales team and Production Manager are continually asking for feedback from each customer about their experiences with the crew that is doing the work on their project.
To report to his/her Project Manager. TraVek maintains an open door policy in all areas of the company and welcomes any and all suggestions, questions and comments. It is TraVek’s goal to make sure all areas of concern are taken care of and both internal and external customers are satisfied.
Must verify with the office that all employees and subcontractors he/she employs on each job have the correct paperwork filled out before they start working. When hiring subcontractors, the Assistant Project Manager must verify that they have Worker’s Compensation insurance or have them sign a rejection form if applicable.
Behavior, Attire and Mannerisms:
Lead Carpenters/Project Managers/Assistant Project Managers are in a Foreman position and should act as such at all times when dealing with current or potential TraVek customers. Respect for everyone should be shown at all times.
An Assistant Project Manager’s normal workday is a minimum of 8 hours, typically starting at 7:30am and ending by 5:00pm. Due to the nature of the Remodeling business, “normal” hours of work are not always feasible. The expectation of Travek is that all work is completed in a timely and efficient manner and that open communication with the customer is maintained to ensure that they know when to expect everyone.
Communication is vital to the success of each job and the success of TraVek. It is the Assistant Project Manager’s duty to update the customer on the progress of the job prior to starting and ending each day. If the PM is arranging for a subcontractor or one of his employees to be at the job, this needs to be coordinated and communicated to the customer. The goal is that the customer always knows what is going on, when to expect people, and to understand the next step of the process.
Vehicle is to always look respectable and be void of any advertisement which could potentially be offensive to our customers. Any company owned vehicle/trailer, or any vehicle displaying TraVek’s name must be driven with respect and must be driven according to the rules of the State in which it is being driven in.
Travek clothing will be worn on all jobs and will look presentable at all times. All employees will be given five (5) T-Shirts and two (2) hats upon employment, with an additional five (5) shirts given every six (6) months, which will be an expense of Travek. Wearing hats on the job is not required, but if one is worn, it must be a Travek hat.
Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
Must be able to stand on feet for a minimum of 8 hours per day
Must be in good physical condition.
