If this sounds like you, consider applying for the position of Marketing & Communications Coordinator with the Town of Chapel Hill's new Community Arts & Culture Team.  Here's some of what you'll need to get the job done:

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Experience with administrative functions such as payroll, accounts payable, contracts, etc.

The purpose of this position is to advance the mission of Community Arts & Culture by providing provide excellent customer service and administrative support to internal and external customers and partners.


-Provide accounts payable support for CA&C

-Process and maintain contracts and vendor forms

-Process and route event permits through interdepartmental TOCH Event Team
Maintain CA&C records and calendars

-Contribute to planning, execution, and assessment of Community Arts & Culture projects, programming, and installations aligned with organizational goals.

-Performs other tasks as required
-Description of Minimum Job Requirements-
 An equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the job.

Formal Education:
Associate's Degree

Two to three years relevant experience

Does not provide direct employee supervision

Knowledge of:
Administrative assistant duties and processes: record management, data entry, customer service, file organization, MS Office tools

Ability to:
Maintain efficient, accurate CA&C administrative operations;
Build collaborative working relationships with diverse teams & individuals;
Communicate effectively with people from diverse backgrounds and interests;
Process and route public requests efficiently, transparently, and accurately.

Physical Demands:
The work is performed sitting, standing, walking, squatting, reaching, and bending.  May require lifting 10-15 pounds.

Work Environment:
The work is typically performed in an office environment. Requires occasional evening and/or weekend work.
