Job Description

We are currently recruiting for a Director of Operations job in Hyannis, MA for one of our clients.

You’ll be working with a company that provides private charter services to Nantucket residents and visitors alike. 

Their fleet consists of multiple Cessna 400 Series (piston/multi-engine) airplanes which are known for their comfort, safety, and economical operating costs which translates into more cost-effective travel for our customers. 

They also operate the Cessna 402C (9 passenger - commuter interior) and Cessna 414A (6 passenger - executive interior) aircraft.


What Is In It For You

Salary: $90,000 - $110,000 annually

Relocation: Open to paying relocation costs.

As the Director of Operations, you will be directly responsible to the President and supervise the Chief Pilot and Director of Maintenance. You shall meet the applicable requirements of 14 CFR Part§ 119.71(a) or (b) as appropriate at the time of your appointment as Director of Operations. Your specific duties, responsibilities, and authority are as follows:

  • Formulates and establishes Company policies and procedures as necessary.
  • Modifies policies and procedures to meet the needs of the company and personnel
  • Develops instructions to carry out company policies and procedures. Directs the execution of Company policies and procedures. Establishes operations, personnel and equipment standards. Updates ( enters revision) of office copies of company Manuals.
  • Maintains and makes available a library of current aviation publications including but not limited to: 
    • NTSB 830. 
    • 14 CFR Parts 1 through 199. 
    • Aeronautical Information Manual. 
    • TSA Security regulations. 
    • Aircraft Flight Manual for each company operated aircraft. International Flight Information Manual. 
    • IA TA Dangerous Goods Regulations. 
    • Title 49 CPR Sub-Chapter C, Hazardous Materials Regulations
  • Oversees the day-to-day flight and office operations. 
  • Approves and/or scheduled flights.
  • Schedules aircraft into applicable inspections and maintenance with the Director of Maintenance and coordinates all flights. 
  • Conducts personnel interviews, hiring and discharging of flight personnel and schedules the training of all company employees. 
  • Is responsible for initiating and managing the PRIA request process and responding to PRIA requests for information (49 USC §44703(h)) (See Appendix 3 of the General Operations Manual). 
  • Obtains the necessary diplomatic clearances prior to departure for all flights into or over foreign countries and those countries listed in the Operations Specifications. 
  • Promote and enforce safety practices. 
  • Distributes the Operations Manual or portions of it to those persons listed in the Distribution Log. 
  • Supervises procurement, distribution and posting of all information or memoranda relative to any changes affecting Company policy, route information, navaids, NOT AMS, requisitioning of flying aids, aeronautical charts, etc. 
  • Ensures prompt reporting, filing and follow-up action on accident reports and HazMat incidents to the appropriate FAA agencies 
  • (NTSB, FSDO, CHDO). 
  • Is responsible for the record-keeping requirements of 14 CFR Part 
  • §135.63(a)(l through 4),(b),(c) as listed in Section S of the General Operations Manual.
  • When a new model of aircraft is added to the existing revenue fleet, he/she will request, from the manufacturer and any other available sources, information unique to the safe operation of that aircraft. The word "new" as used in this paragraph means new to the Company. It could be a used aircraft obtained from any source.
  • The Director of Operations will participate in the VDRP and file reports in accordance with AC 00-58 Appendix 1. Voluntary Disclosure Reporting Program (VDRP) for Air Carriers. 


  • Must be available to work weekends
  • Must be currently qualified to fly as Captain in Cessna 402C aircraft on scheduled and/or charter flights.
