Toole Design Group in Seattle, WA is looking to hire an experienced and talented full-time Engineering Group Manager. Do you have a strong background in civil or transportation engineering? Do you have experience with roadway/corridor design or analyzing and designing streets and intersections? Do you love mentoring other engineers and bringing out the best in them? Are you passionate about sustainability and the opportunity to work on challenging multimodal projects that serve all people, not just motorists? Would you like to work for a firm that is committed to the well-being of its employees? If so, please consider joining our Seattle team.
This Engineering Group Manager position, with a focus on roadway design and active transportation, earns a competitive salary and great benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, retirement, a health savings account (HSA), a flexible spending account (FSA), and PTO starting at 22 days. We practice what we preach and ensure that our employees also have access to multimodal transportation by providing them with financial incentives to bike, walk, or use transit for a better quality of life.

About Toole Design
Toole Design is a North American leader in the delivery of streets and public spaces where people can move freely and intuitively, enjoying the experience and being a part of the community instead of just moving through it. Since our start in 2003 as a single office in Maryland, we have expanded throughout the United States and Canada. Our talented team of planners, landscape architects and engineers are committed to delivering quality work that meets the needs of all people, regardless of age, ability, race or gender. We have been named a "best firm to work for" and have one of the lowest staff turnover rates in the industry. We are a highly collaborative firm, proud of our ability to share resources between offices to support our team members and support our "one company" ethos.
Every project our employees deliver directly and positively affects our communities.

A Day in the Life of an Engineering Group Manager
You lead, support, and mentor an interdisciplinary team to deliver multimodal transportation infrastructure in a wide range of contexts from roadway reconstructions and streetscapes in highly urban settings to signature trail projects in suburban areas that highlight and enhance the natural environment. You are at the forefront of brainstorming creative solutions for challenging projects.
You will build and support the growth of transportation and civil engineering practices in your region. You will leverage your experiences to lead projects and support client decision making. You will help mentor staff on the delivery of your projects and create an atmosphere of mentorship to support your team members. You will coordinate with office directors, practice directors, and group managers to help manage workloads for your team and your projects.
You will continue to leverage and develop your engineering knowledge by working on a wide range of projects which include:
  • the evaluation and design of multimodal transportation infrastructure,
  • corridor planning projects in suburban and urban contexts,
  • systemic safety improvements at high-risk intersections,
  • delivery of roadway reconstruction and streetscapes plan sets, and
  • design modifications to enhance multimodal safety.
As an Engineering Group Manager, you understand technical software such as AutoCAD and help guide your team to complete production work on projects. You participate in business development pursuits in your home region as well as across our North American offices. You get to work with a close-knit team that is passionate about their work and the communities that you serve. You will be actively engaged in the hiring of staff to grow your team, and in creating a productive and supportive environment for your staff.
