Copywriter

Job Overview: Tontine is hiring a direct response copywriter to join our marketing team! You’ll be responsible for combining fresh and creative ideas, razor-sharp writing, high-level persuasion skills… and be funny. We’ll be relying on your wit and humor to pierce through the dull and boring copy that most of our competitors are satisfied with churning out.

This is a contract job that may result in full-time employment in the future depending on your preference and performance.

Role:

• Work with the sales and marketing team to create compelling email copy that’ll stand out in a prospective client’s busy inbox.

• Analyze simple metrics on which copies you’ve created are over-performing and underperforming, so you can iterate and perfect it.

• Write long-form sales letters, landing pages, emails, video ads, etc. for cold traffic.

• Edit and proofread writing of colleagues.

• Assist with in-app product marketing copy — e.g. announcement of new features, clarifying first-time user experience journeys, purpose of specific features, limitations of specific features, etc.

• Create content for Tontine’s blog and recruit/manage freelance writers to accelerate content publishing cadence.

Requirements

• BA degree preferred; major in Journalism, English, Creative Writing, Screenwriting, Marketing or Communication.

• 1-2 years of experience with high-output direct response copywriting.

• Fast-paced, high-volume writing (over 1,000 words a day).

• Willing to take (and apply) constructive feedback.

• Able to handle multiple projects simultaneously; agency experience is a bonus.

• Eagerness to learn obsessively about consumer psychology & high-performing copywriting techniques.
