CNC Machinist

Summary/Objective
Higher Level position in the Machine Shop with the ability to set up and run jobs on either manual or CNC machines with minimal supervision but still requires CNC training.
Essential Functions

Move or position workpieces to table, jigs, or other positions as directed, either manually or by using hoist, pry bars, wrenches, hammer and wedges
Preparation of material by removing impurities, such as slag, rust, and grease, using wire brush, portable grinder, or chemical solutions prior to machine work
Assist in setting up material
Remove tags or marks and move finished machine work
Use of hand tools, overhead crane, hoist, forklift and pallet jack to prepare, finalize and move material
Proficient in running manual lathe, manual mill, drill press, key seater and press.
Show ability to run CNC mills and lathes
Knowledge in CNC programming
Able to analyze prints and verify components meet specified print tolerances
Be able to pass Machinist Level 3 test using choice of two of the CNC machines; Doosan, Samsung, VF4 or ST30. To be completed within 30 days of employment
Create fixturing as needed
Perform PMs on machines

Completion of Machinist Level 1 test
Completion of Machinist Level 2 test
Timber Automation Overhead Crane Certification
Timber Automation Forklift Certification
Proper lifting techniques training
Proficiency in use of micrometers and calipers
Ability to use hand tools, forklifts, grinders, lifting devices
Dexterity in hands to assemble parts
May be required to pass employer performance tests or standard tests to meet certification standards of governmental agencies or professional and technical associations
Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to welding fumes and airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud and does require hearing protection.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift or move items over 50 pounds with a weight limit of 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Thursday, 5:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for dayshift
Travel
No travel is expected for this position.
Required Education and Experience
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Prior experience with hand tools, forklifts, grinders, lifting devices
Prior CNC experience
Prior CAD/CAM experience
Prior blueprint reading experience
Prior Quality inspection experience
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
This position requires a preemployment background and drug test.
