Production Lead (Cheese/Dairy)

What you will do:

The Production Lead is responsible for keeping the production and milk receiving areas in a safe, sanitary and efficient work order. 

Here’s a day in the life:

  • Complex Problem Solving - Identifying Complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.

  • Dairy Science – Understands the components of milk, starter bacteria, and other ingredients, and the processing of making dairy products to a specification

  • Statistical Process Control – Understands basic statistics and their application in understanding a process and how it is responding to correction.

  • Physics – Knowledge and prediction of physical principles, laws, their interrelationships.

  • Systems Evaluation – Identifying measures or indicators of system performance and the actions needed to improve or correct performance, relative to the goals of the system

  • Judgment and decision Making – Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one

  • Innovation – Job requires creativity and alternative thinking to develop new ideas for and answers to work-related problems

  • Equipment maintenance – Performing basic routine maintenance on equipment and determine when other maintenance is need.

  • Mechanical – Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.

  • Critical Thinking – Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.

  • Troubleshooting – Determining causes of operating errors deciding what to do about it

  • Operation and Control – Controlling operations of equipment or systems.

  • Analytical Thinking – Job requires analyzing information and using logic to address work-related issues and problems.

  • Clerical – Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, designing forms, and other office procedures and terminology.

  • Mathematics – Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry and their applications

  • Negotiation – Bringing others together and trying to reconcile differences

  • Time Management – Managing one’s own time and the time of others

  • Coordination – Adjusting actions in relation to other’s actions

  • Social perceptiveness – Being aware of others’ reactions and understanding why they react as they do

  • Instruction - Teaching others how to do something

  • Service Orientation – Actively looking for ways to help people

  • Learning Strategies – Selecting and using training/instructional methods and procedures appropriate for the situation when learning or teaching new things.

  • Persuasion – Persuading other to change their minds or behavior

  • Concern for others – Job requires being sensitive to others’ needs and feelings and being understanding and helpful on the job

  • Leadership – Job requires a willingness to lead, take charge, and offer opinions and direction

  • Resolving Conflicts and Negotiating with others – Handling Complaints, setting disputes, and resolving grievances and conflicts, or otherwise negotiating with others

  • Developing and Building Teams – Encouraging and building mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members.

 

Skills you’ll need:

Education:

High School Diploma or GED.

Experience:

2-3 years of Food Manufacturing Experience

OTHER: Prior Lead experience or education preferred
