Job Title: Food Applications Lab Technician - 8137
Duration: 3 months
Do you anticipate overtime?: No
Environment: Food Lab/Office
Dress Code/Required PPE: Office is business casual jeans OK most days; Cargill will provide lab coat, safety glasses and appropriate footwear, if needed)
Prescreens: Candidate must pass Sterling Background check, Pre-Employment Physical, 5 panel Drug Screen w/ expanded opiates, Spirometry, Respiratory Certification Questionnaire, Lifting Assessment and Mobility Assessment

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
Assist developers on the combined Bakery, Snacks & Cereals, and Confectionery Applications Team in bench-top and pilot plant processing, e.g. ingredient scale-up, getting equipment ready before testing, post-test clean-up, and general lab housekeeping
Perform basic physical and analytical analysis
Ability to manage multiple tasks on a deadline basis
Maintain ingredient and chemical storage in accordance with food safety guidelines
Maintain pilot plant equipment and all areas utilized by lab
Compliance with Food Safety and EH&S policies
Document and protect all information to protect and ensure any and all patentable advances in technology as required by company policy. Have the ability to work with minimal supervision.
Must be able to work effectively with a team as well as independently and possess excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills

Required Experience/Qualifications:
Associates Science Degree
Basic food ingredient and processing knowledge
Demonstrated problem-solving skills
Good interpersonal and teamwork skills
Takes initiative in technical problem solving
Proficient in Microsoft Office Excel, Word, PowerPoint
Good communication skills, both written and oral.
Ability to work in a lab environment and maintain good food manufacturing practice
Ability to lift weights up to 50 lbs. and perform other necessary physical requirements of job

Preferred Experience/Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science in Food Science or related field
Experience working in bakery related projects
Experience in Sensory Science or related field
