Job Title: Engineer Quality II/OFP Weld Quality Engineer - 37154
Description:
- Provides quality planning, control, and improvement support for product development teams, manufacturing engineering, supply management, and manufacturing and/or distribution organizations to assure Company product quality meets the customers' expectations.
- This includes the application of quality tools within the Enterprise Product Delivery Process (EPDP), Enterprise Order Fulfillment Process (EOFP) and Customer Support Process (CSP). Also supports application of quality tools with key suppliers as an integral element of quality planning.
Duties:
- Participates on PDP (Product Delivery Process) teams as the Quality representative, ensuring quality activities and plans are formulated and followed. Engages in applying/leading Quality tools in Product Delivery Process (PDP) teams.
- Encourages early interaction of both customer and supplier input to team activities.
- Participates in Design Process and Assembly Reviews (DPARs), print reviews, and design reviews of new products.
- Monitors and facilitates quality activities for part approval, verifies manufacturing processes (control plans, assembly instructions) and confirms process capability.
- Uses quality tools and practices to establish approval criteria to ensure the identification of quality failure concerns for both internal and external manufactured parts and assemblies. An example is Failure Modes & Effects Analysis (FMEA).
- Investigates unit quality related issues and concerns related to product and processes, gathers and analyzes data, resolves/facilitates resolution and implements corrective action.
- Engages in applying/leading Quality tools on Customer Support Process (CSP), Continuous Improvement (CI), and/or Value Improvement (VI) teams.
- Executes Company Quality Control Plan where implemented.
- Investigates product quality problems, determines root cause for quality problems, gathers and analyzes data and implements corrective action to reduce or eliminate non-value waste resulting from non-conformances, scrap or reclaim.
- Assists in identifying, communicating and resolving supplier quality problems.
- Engages in supplier quality plan formulation as necessary.
- Conducts audits of new and existing suppliers to determine manufacturing capability and adherence to accepted quality practices.
- Drives prevention actions. Facilitates and writes quality procedures for the purpose of maintaining/updating the factory quality system and supports quality system audits, reviews result with audit team, and participates in management review meetings.
- Provides training and/or supervision to co-workers, inspectors, technicians and auditors on quality procedures and tools to monitor critical processes to assure consistent control and/or to implement cost-saving ideas to improve our products to meet customer expectations.
- Manage daily quality calls from multiple product lines, determine root cause and implement both short-term and long-term corrective actions for defects found in a timely manner.
- Provide clear and timely communication to management, operations, and cross functional teams for active quality issues.
- Lead quality planning and execution discussions, including risk analysis, risk mitigation, control plans, dimensional analysis, and strategic quality improvements.
- Maintain current and historical quality performance documentation metrics.
- Lead and actively participate in Continuous Improvement (CI) process on the shop floor improving and implementing departmental Safety, Quality, Efficiency, Delivery, Ergonomic and Cost reduction projects.
- Work closely with cross functional teams, suppliers, and product design to drive inherent quality into our processes and products.
Shift hours:
- Need a candidate that is willing to work both 1st and 3rd shift hours.
- 3rd 9:30pm-6:00am
- 1st - 6am-2:30pm
Education:
- Manager is open to true recent grads with applicable experience.
- BA in Engineer or Technical Degree preferred.
- Manager is willing to hire a highly experienced candidate who does not have a BA.
Must Have Skills:
- Experience demonstrating technical aptitude in one of the following areas: hydraulics, powertrain, electrical, welding, assembly, manufacturing, or product validation.
- Experience with root cause analysis, National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA, 8 D ) Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA), corrective action, mistake proofing or digital process control tools.
- Ability to be a self-starter who can execute multiple tasks in parallel with little supervision.
- Ability to gather, analyze, and summarize trend data to make sound decisions.
- Ability to interpret production trend or defect data and convert into meaningful quality inspections and process control. Product quality experience interpreting Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) measurement reports or similar dimensional inspection toolsets, control plan development or process/product-based risk mitigation.
- Experienced working with external suppliers or customers to contain and resolve quality non-conformances.
What Makes You Stand Out:
- Experience in quality, manufacturing, operations in a shop floor environment.
- Experience with structure design, processes, and tooling.
- Knowledge of drawing and schematic interpretation, product models, GD&T.
- Experience in one or more related engineering areas: design, manufacturing, quality, development, industrial or reliability.
- Experience with engineering tools, systems, and databases such as SAP, CREO, AutoCAD, MES.
- ASQ certification as Quality Engineer, Auditor, or Six Sigma Certified.
