About the Role:  

The Warehouse & Inventory Control Manager is responsible for coordinating, managing, and maintaining all warehousing and inventory control operations, including but not limited to shipping, receiving, and pre-batching functions in a Thistle facility.  The person in this position ensures that all inventory is properly tracked, identified, and accessible to produce Thistle meals.

This position is 100% onsite in our Burlington, NJ, facility.

What you'll do:

  • Coordinate and manage all warehousing and inventory control operational functions including, but not limited to, inventory cycle counts, product staging, shipping, receiving, and materials management
  • Develop, implement, and validate procedures, controls, and SOPs that map the entire warehouse and inventory control process; continuously implement process improvements as needed
  • Develop Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and other key metrics related to cycle counts, inventory management, and shipping and receiving
  • Maintain the physical condition of the warehouse; design, plan, and implement new design layouts
  • In collaboration with quality assurance and food safety teams, ensure that the warehouse is audit ready at all times
  • Manage processes for inbound and outbound truck unloading and loading; ensure accurate manifests and documentation logs are maintained 
  • Proactively collaborate with Culinary, Production, Quality Assurance, Inventory Control, Procurement, Accounting, and Logistics teams to ensure proper handoffs and process flows
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly operating reports; record, summarize and report on variances and waste/scrap
  • Manage warehouse and inventory team members; monitor work; ensure the safe use of warehouse equipment
  • Ensure compliance with GMP, PPE, food safety, and safety/OSHA regulations
  • Partner regularly with People Ops, Payroll, and Talent Acquisition teams to create a positive work environment, work towards all hiring and performance goals, and ensure timely payroll is complete

What you'll bring

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; degree in business, management, operations, logistics, or related field preferred
  • 5+ years experience with managing employees in a warehouse environment; food manufacturing environment preferred; at least 3+ years experience with inventory control management in a warehouse or manufacturing environment required
  • Forklift certification and experience preferred
  • Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS)
  • Working knowledge of state wage & time law
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, develop, coach, and empower employees to excel in task execution, collaboration, thinking outside the box, and problem-solving
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong math skills (UOM conversion, reconciliation, and reporting)
  • Ability to form effective working relationships with a cross-functional team 
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to pivot quickly and make adjustments to workloads to help ensure kitchen and production requirements and goals are met
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of how inventory inaccuracies impact collaborative teams
  • Ability to develop, manage, and implement new and existing company SOPs and processes
  • State-designated Food Handlers Certification (must obtain within first 30 days of employment)
  • Strong familiarity, usage, basic maintenance knowledge, and safe operation of warehouse equipment
  • Tech-savvy approach with everyday tasks and communication; comfortable with G-Suite(specifically Google Sheets) and Slack, a big plus! 
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles, including 5-S, Root Cause Analysis, and 5 Whys, is a plus
  • Ability to walk and stand for long periods
  • The ability to manually move, lift, carry, pull, or push objects up to 50 pounds
