Our partner is looking for a Human Resources Director (Generalist) in Minneapolis, MN. This position collects data, draws insights from analysis, develops compelling recommendations, and translates ideas to actions and activities to drive implementation; skillfully challenges conventional practices to advance organizational progress while ensuring actions are grounded in discipline and in alignment with institutional requirements, expectations and priorities. Responsibilities Strategic Leadership - 30% Collaborate with leadership and stakeholders to advance strategic direction, foster operational effectiveness, facilitate and manage change, and ensure compliance with employment laws, HR policies and best practices. Develop, implement, and assess the college's short-term and long-term human resources strategies to foster an effective, equitable, and inclusive environment; anticipate emerging issues that will affect policy and program development. Provide leadership in improving human resources systems and in streamlining human resources practices. Through initiatives, policies, and practices, actively foster an environment of equity, diversity and inclusion.

Develop strategies and coach supervisors to support a culture of accountability, respect, and employee engagement. Provide oversight and leadership on collegiate reporting of HR data; analyze data to make appropriate decisions, in consultation with unit leaders. Workforce Planning, Organizational Effectiveness, and Engagement - 40% Ensure team is positioned to make the best possible use of existing resources and is staffed appropriately. Oversee recruitment and selection of staff and advise on policy and/or strategy. Provide consultation on work, department, and organizational design. Advise on candidate sourcing, search and on-boarding and off-boarding activities. Serve as college-wide resource and counsel for business processes related to recruiting to include: employment searches, adjunct instructional appointments, position management, job classification, job postings, search committees, and EOAA matters related to staffing and employment searches. Lead professional development and engagement initiatives to increase workplace effectiveness and retain high performing staff.

Develop and implement supervisory training and employee development programs incorporating resources available through the Office of Human Resources Performance Management and Compliance- 20% Manage ongoing employee and labor relations issues including investigations, disciplinary action, and grievances. Serve as management liaison for employment related grievances, complaints, and legal action; consult regarding a variety of complex, sensitive, and confidential performance scenarios. Direct the college's annual performance review cycle and oversee a performance management system ensuring timely and effective feedback for employees, aligning with performance management practices and various employment contracts. Ensure that HR and related management practices comply with law, policy, contracts in addition to HR and DEI best practices. Take appropriate actions to minimize risk, including providing timely and effective investigations, as well as consultation and advice to managers, leaders, and other HR professionals. Supervision - 10% Lead and sustain a strong, flexible human resources unit and provide opportunities for professional learning and development. Evaluate employee performance and provide on-going training, development, feedback and coaching to HR staff. Ensure that HR staff have the resources, training, and knowledge needed to deliver professional HR services and consultation.
