As a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHN), you must display excellent interpersonal skills in your interactions with patients and their families as well as with a variety of medical and case management staff members. You must also have strong organizational and time management skills and the ability to function well under pressure. It is also important to your role as a Psychiatric Mental Nurse Practitioner that you are self-motivated, able to work with minimal supervision and solidly dedicated to the work that you do.
Your specific duties as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner will include:
Conducting initial psychiatric patient evaluations to determine medication needs
Meeting with patients on a monthly or bimonthly basis in order to monitor their progress and to make any necessary changes to their medication regimen
Providing care which takes into account patients’ age-specific safety needs
Documenting evaluations of and interactions with patients, including medication and treatment administered
Completing clinical documentation to assist patients in acquiring and maintaining disability
Participates in and attends treatment team, planning and case reviews
Consults with other practitioners within the Health Home
Consults regarding specific participant health issues
Assists coordination with external providers
Provides training to staff as appropriate
Complete and submit to the Company patient progress and management notes
Communicate and confer with Director of Clinical Programs, Medical Director, therapist and clinical coordinator
Comply with the Company’s patient assessment and management policies and procedures
Comply with all applicable federal and laws, statutes, rules, and regulations related to the provision of services.

Graduate from an accredited college or university with MSN in Nursing
Must possess Current RN Licensure – DEA – State Certification
Maintains current CPR certification
Experience providing outpatient services to an adult and/or child population with mental illness
Minimum of 3 years of current clinical nursing experience with physician office experience preferred
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Basic computer proficiency; Microsoft office a plus
Electronic Medical Records (Credible, a plus)
Hold a current license in good standing to practice registered nursing in Maryland or a compact state;
Has been approved by the Board; is accredited by a nursing accrediting body recognized by the United States Department of Education or the Council for Higher Accreditation
