Graphic Designer/Data Visualizer

The World Justice Project (WJP) is seeking a graphic designer/data visualizer to join our design team in our global office in Washington, DC. This will be a full-time remote consulting position performed from Mexico. The new designer must have experience in editorial design and UI/UIX and possess professional proficiency in English.
The new designer will join our Communications team and report remotely to the Creative Director in Washington, DC. They will propose and design efficient, clear, and engaging data visualizations for our audience. They will then integrate these graphics into our printed and online reports.

Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Development of advanced information visualization solutions and models.
- Contribute to the design, layout, and overall production of WJP’s existing and future products, including the annual WJP Rule of Law Index and graphical country reports.
- Assist with developing a new web platform and conceptualization, planning, and execution of thematic microsites featuring WJP products and initiatives.
- Work closely with colleagues, including those on WJP’s research, engagement, and development teams in Washington, DC, and Mexico City, to produce high-level presentations, infographics, graphs, and communications materials.
- Provide general design support, including rapid production of social media graphics, event marketing assets, and other promotional materials.
- Work within brand standards to produce effective, unique, engaging campaigns across various platforms.
- Support the evolution and expansion of WJP’s visual language across digital and print media.
- Work collaboratively with WJP internal teams and external consultants to ensure deadlines are met and material is produced to the highest quality and in line with WJP brand standards.
Qualifications: Successful applicants will have 3+ years of professional experience. Ideal applicants will have solid references and be motivated, highly dependable, and passionate about how design can be used for social good. Candidates should also demonstrate the following skills and qualifications:
- Experience with data visualization, editorial design, UI/UX.
- A portfolio demonstrating advanced knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, including InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator. Experience with Adobe XD, Figma.
- Experience with digital and print production and optimizing products to translate across multiple channels.
- Skills in visualizing and translating large amounts of complex information into digestible and eye-catching illustrations and infographics; Experience with Tableau or coding in R is a plus.
- Knowledge of Datylon, Flourish, and HTML is a plus.
- Knowledge of Infogram, Datawrapper, Google Charts, and Plotly is a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to communicate clearly and efficiently in English, with the ability to give and receive feedback.
- Exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and prioritize workload and daily assignments.
- Ability to interact with staff at all levels, work in a collaborative team environment, and work independently.
- Interest and willingness to develop new skills.
- A degree in graphic design/data visualization or a related field.
Physical Requirements: While performing the job responsibilities, the employee is frequently required to use finger dexterity and sufficient hand dexterity to use a computer keyboard and be capable of reading a computer screen. In addition, the employee may need to remain seated for long periods, can perform repetitive motions, grasp objects, including a writing instrument, stand, communicate verbally and hear well enough to detect nuances and receive detailed information. The employee may be required to walk, push or pull objects, bend, squat, reach, or kneel. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision for extensive reading and data analysis.
