POSITION TITLE – Mobile Engineering Manager

Position Summary: 

Responsibilities include providing leadership and guidance to the mobile development team. The Mobile Engineering Manager will be responsible to guide, develop and ensure that the development team understands the technology strategy and plans to meet the business objectives. The Mobile Engineering Manager will need to work with the business to define and control scope of projects and prioritize maintenance requests and have overall responsibility for managing team’s delivery. Activities encompass the full Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) from project initiation and the development of business requirements through implementation and ongoing production support. In addition to projects, this role will be responsible for managing the applications production support and enhancements.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and guidance to the Mobile development team including coaching, mentoring, and evaluation with the end goal being optimum performance levels.
  • Work with Director, Application Development to plan and execute projects, ensuring that the development team has the appropriate information to be successful.
  • Ensure delivery of the high quality products from team through the implementation of a continuous improvement process to SDLC
  • Responsible for ownership of the application code base which includes maintaining the integrity of the code, understanding and documenting its current capabilities, defining/enforcing standards and best practices, and performing and participating in code reviews
  • Adoption of lean methodologies where appropriate
  • Hire and retain best possible technical talent.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key vendors so we can maximize our usage of their products.
  • Ability to solve complex technical problems and communicate the solution to non-technical management and peers.   
  • Design project goals for each app developer, success markers, and determine how success will be measured and tracked; responsible for adjusting project plans to match developers workload as requirements change 

Ideal Experience:

The ideal candidate for the Mobile Engineering Manager position at TTC will have:

  • A minimum of 5+ years of experience in developing Mobile SDKs on Digital / ecommerce projects
  • 3+ years of demonstrated experience leading software development activities.  
  • Experience managing a high-performing organization of 5 engineers. Experience managing remote employees.
  • Strong expertise in some of the following languages: Swift, Brightscript, Java and Kotlin
  • Deep familiarity with some of the following mobile features: Push notifications, Registration/Subscription, Location services, Deep Linking
  • Ability to adapt to changing technology and priorities
  • Strong analytical and project management skills. Good planning, organizing, decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • Significant hands-on experience in design, implementation, and developing of public facing digital experiences
  • Demonstrated experience with implementing and supporting Internet eCommerce systems is required
