Qualifications Master's Degree in Counseling, Social Work, or related field, plus one year of supervised work experience in the field of Addictions and Mental Health preferred. Must have CADC, LPC (LCPC/LCSW preferred) and a thorough knowledge of Substance Abuse and co-occurring disorders. Ability to complete a quick and accurate differential assessment of mental health and substance abuse disorders.
Must have experience with evidence based treatment modalities for treating co-occurring illness. Experience with an Electronic Health Records is a plus. Must have valid driver's license and minimal auto insurance.
Physical and Mental Requirements Good organizational skills, ability to use logical thinking to solve problems. Good short-term memory, verbal communication skills, ability to provide and follow effective written and verbal instructions. Good documentation skills required.
Ability to effectively monitor and develop subordinates when applicable. Ability to successfully complete training and perform C.P.R. Ability to perform light physical work exerting up to ten (10) pounds of force on an occasional basis.
Sitting, standing, walking short distances and climbing stairs are activities that the Dual Diagnosis Specialist must perform. Under the supervision of a Director/Clinical Supervisor, provides screenings and diagnostic assessments of clients seeking treatment in a dual-disordered program. Participates in case conferences and suggests appropriate levels of care for addictions treatment.
Provides education, individual, and group counseling to assigned clients and maintains case records according to standards. Coordinates efforts with referral agencies and makes non-routine clinical decisions under minimal supervision. Refers patients for psychiatric evaluations and/or psychiatric medication management.
Establishes and maintains a community referral network with local community based service providers. The Dual Diagnosis Specialist also performs all supervisory responsibilities as assigned in the absence of the designated supervisor.
