Masters Degree in Behavioral Health or related field*, Illinois Certification in Substance Abuse; and two years of experience in Behavioral Health including both SUD and MHD. Must also have CODP I or II certification or demonstrate successful completion of either graduate co-occurring disorders course work totaling 3 or more semester hours or seminar/workshops dealing with co-occurring disorders totaling 6 or more hours. Must also have a thorough knowledge of the disease model of alcoholism/addiction as well as mental health disorders and their application to patient care. Must have valid driver's license and minimal auto insurance.
In addition, Senior Addiction Counselor-Residential must demonstrate excellent clinical documentation skills and SUPR 2060 regulation compliance as reflected in internal documentation audits by the Compliance Officer and/or through documentation exercises completed as part of their job interview.
Good organizational skills, ability to use logical thinking to solve problems. Good short-term memory, verbal communication skills, ability to provide and follow effective written and verbal instructions. Ability to effectively monitor and develop subordinates when applicable. Ability to successfully complete training and perform C.P.R. Ability to perform light physical work exerting up to ten (10) pounds of force on an occasional basis. Sitting, standing and walking short distances are activities that the Senior Addiction Counselor-Residential must perform.
