Job Description


The Risk Advisor is responsible for managing a book of Commercial Property & Casualty insurance business through a combination of assigned accounts and by developing new business opportunities. In this forward-facing role, the Risk Advisor will counsel both existing and prospective clients on risk management and insurance products, while expanding the Seltzer Brand.

  • Adhere to agency guidelines for placing business.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.


  • Responsible for retaining and growing book of business.  Retention goal of 98-100%;
  • Identification of risk management exposures for existing and new relationships;
  • Gain involvement in niches and other areas of expertise related to book of business;
  • Serves as technical expert, assisting department members to resolve complex issues on accounts;
  • Reviews coverage, identifies deficiencies and determines appropriate limits;
  • Seeks business development opportunities through networking, referrals, and cross-selling;
  • Meets individual growth objectives;
  • Attends all assigned sales meetings;
  • Acts as producer or associate producer on book of business as assigned;
  • Collaborates with the management team to develop individual annual plan including prospects and key areas of focus;
  • Communicates with all current and potential clients on a regular basis, as directed;
  • Represents the agency in a professional, ethical and courteous manner that is consistent with the image of the agency;
  • Develops and maintain relationships with clients to retain business;
  • Receives & returns emails and phone calls in a timely and courteous manner, providing a positive client experience;
  • Actively solicits and develops additional lines of business to the agency;
  • Complies with agency management system data standards and data integrity (enters and maintains complete and accurate information);
  • Consistently looks to prioritize the placing of business with Keystone core carriers;
  • Maintains confidentiality of company and client information;
  • Prepares and completes questionnaires, documents and adjust accounts in accordance to agency procedures and standards;
  • Any other duties, responsibilities or activities as assigned.


  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • 8 - 10 years related work experience;
  • Valid insurance license;
  • Must continue to meet Continuing Education requirements for license renewal.


· This is largely a sedentary role; however, some standing and/or moving around the office is required;

· Visual skills to read and interpret reports and data recording;

· Hearing and speaking skills are required.


  • This job operates in a clerical office setting and at client locations – travel is required;
  • This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers and fax machines;
  • Applied EPIC management system;
  • Microsoft Office Suite;
  • Office equipment and programs as required;
  • Fast paced office environment with significant telephone and interoffice activity.


  • This position does not supervise any other positions
