POSITION SUMMARY
The CDC Director is responsible for supervision and coordination of a Licensed-Title 22 and/or State Funded-Title 5 infant, preschool and/or school age/youth program. Responsibilities include: planning, coordinating and monitoring curriculum, staff development,
interpretation and explanation of regulations and policies as they apply to the center.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Responsibilities:
1. Assist Director in an effective and full compliance of day to day operations of the center as in accordance to The Salvation Army/Protect The Mission, Community Care Licensing (CCL)-Title 22 and/or California Department Education(CDE)-Title 5 funding and/or
The Child and Adult Food Program (CACFP).
2. Work cooperatively with director to implement program which support the needs and development of the children enrolled. Conduct classroom observation to ensure appropriate practices, techniques and behavior modifications are in place for maximum effectiveness.
Observe and confer with staff on individual children, as needed provide families with appropriate referral/resource to ensure development of child(ren)
3. Help the development of community relations to establish two-way communication with other agencies, recruitment of qualified staff, volunteers and community resources
4. Provide direct supervision over the CACFP program.
5. Supervise teachers when director is not on site or when needed.
6. Assist with state reports which include 9400's & children attendance.
7. Attend meetings and trainings as required and follow-up with site trainings for staff. Promote professional development of staff and self.
8. Oversees the after-school program and summer program.
9. Develop rich and informative lesson plans & review teacher lesson plans.
10. Serves as a teacher in the afterschool program and in the preschool when needed.
11. Drive to elementary schools to pick up children, to fieldtrips or other destinations due to the need of the center.
12. Help children with homework or develop fun learning activities.
13. Ensure timely completion of ECERS, DRDP's, and parent conferences.
14. Ability to Identify and respond to potential problems and/or programmatic needs and impacts.
15. Promotes and follows professional code of ethics.
16. Becomes a mandated report of child abuse
17. Perform miscellaneous or other duties as assigned.

Requirements
WORKING CONDITIONS
Ability to walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis. Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, and reach overhead. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Title 5 Funded Programs
Site Supervisor permit issued from the California Commission of Teacher Credentialing-CTC or in process of obtaining Site Supervisor permit.
AA degree in child development/w six units-in administration and supervision of child development program and two additional units of adult supervision, two years teaching experience and some supervision experience.
Alternatives
BA degree or higher with 12 units in child development and three units-supervised field experience, three units administration and one-year teaching experience
Certified in Child and Infant CPR and first aid
Title 22-For State Licensed Programs only
1. 12 core semester units
2. 3 semester units-Administration or Staff Relations
3. 4 years teaching experience in supervised group Child Care and as applicable:
Specialized Units in /School Age and/or infant/toddler Care
Certified in Child and Infant CPR and first aid
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, & ABILITIES
1. Interpersonal skills
2. General knowledge of software applications: Word, Excel, Microsoft Office.
3. Ability to read and interpret documents rules, instructions, and procedures.
4. Ability to write reports and correspondence.
5. Ability to speak effectively.
6. Ability to effectively problem solve and mediate staff issues and/or conflicts.
7. Ability to use excellent judgment relating to sensitive matters, children, families and staff.
8. Sensitive/ mature, able to relate well to children/adults.
9. Computer Literate
10. In good physical and mental health, capable of meeting the demands of the classroom.
11. Must pass all measures of Salvation Army and Department of Justice criminal background check process.
