Event & Catering Sales Manager

Full Time; Exempt

Job Summary:

The Event & Catering Sales Manager will be responsible for event sales, planning, and execution. This person will solicit and upsell/cross sell event business and oversee and orchestrate all aspects of the day-to-day event operations. This position is focused on the sale and delivery of high-quality experiences for events such as weddings, Bar & Bat Mitzvahs, corporate meetings and picnics, and galas as well as events held by the company. This person will lead and manage logistics while making informed decisions that will lead to personalized experiences for members and guests, taking into account, the overarching goals of the business including service excellence and managing financial targets. This position of event sales, planning, and execution reports to the Food & Beverage/Events Manager.


  • Provide premium level of service throughout pre-event, event, and post-event phases of customer functions;
  • Exhibit an understanding of the unique components that are inherent in a private club environment, managing the distinct relationships that are built as a result of ongoing repeat visitation, while setting appropriate expectations and levels of accountability amongst the team;
  • Focus on new sales by making outgoing sales calls by phone, email, or in person to potential customers;
  • Attend networking events and utilize social networking to obtain leads and build relationships;
  • Upsell/cross sell when the opportunity arises and make suggestions to better enhance the customer’s experience;
  • Respond to incoming requests for information regarding events and catering;
  • Describe in detail the services and amenities PADONIA has to offer including but not limited to: both outdoor and indoor venues, detailed menus, activities;
  • Exhibit flexibility and knowledge of varied service styles;
  • Create contracts, handle deposits, and coordinate payment schedules with members/event hosts;
  • Strive to meet/exceed sales goals;
  • Follow established proven procedures, collaborating with customers and employees to ensure success;
  • Partner with all departments in the planning and execution of events;
  • Manage events and lead and support staff while equipping them with the knowledge and resources needed to perform their functions in a variety of service styles;
  • Makes presence known to customer at all times during event;
  • Demonstrate passion with an ability to exude a genuine hospitality philosophy;
  • Observe working conditions to ensure adherence to service standards, compliance standards, and food safety/sanitation guidelines, seeking out opportunities for improvement;
  • Work with vendors and partners to adapt and evolve operations to ensure seamless experiences;
  • Maintain appropriate staffing levels and schedules for a varied and diversified operation;
  • Take initiative to use experience to improve service performance;
  • Maintain customer files;
  • Keep equipment in good working order and all spaces in show-ready condition at all times;
  • Follow all safety and health guidelines as outlined by the company; and,
  • All other duties as assigned or required.


  • Bachelor's degree in Hospitality, Hotel Management, or equivalent;
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in the hospitality industry and/or 2 years working in a luxury resort, top tier hotel, or private club including annual event sales of $500,000+;
  • Minimum of 3 years of leadership experience overseeing a food & beverage operation with direct reports preferred; and,
  • TIPS, Serv Safe, CPR / First Aid / AED certification.

  • Strong problem solving and decision making ability;
  • Creative and understands the importance of visual presentation and attention to detail;
  • Ability to understand the impact of financial aspects of an operation (i.e. sales goals, revenue, and labor, etc.);

  • Safety focused with ability to recognize safety warnings.

Environmental Conditions and Physical Expectations:

  • Must stand, walk, bend, crouch, kneel, reach, and climb continuously;
  • Ascend/descend stairs and ladders;
  • Lift, move, push, and carry 50lbs frequently;
  • Work with tools and equipment;
  • Must be able to work in both indoors and at outdoor venues that include a variety of weather conditions including hot or cold temperatures; and,
  • Ability to work weekdays, evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
