Part-Time Regulatory Compliance Specialist

Opportunity: The Mom Project is helping to source candidates for the above client who is looking for a Part-Time Regulatory Compliance Specialist

Commitment: 20 hours per week, 50% on-site, 50% remote

The Mom Project is excited to partner with our client, a fast-growing, private-equity backed challenger brand in the air care industry looking for an experienced Regulatory Compliance Specialist to join the Innovation + Product Engineering team on a part-time basis.

This position will act as the main contact for all regulatory compliance needs and be responsible for obtaining documentation, confirming the product meets regulatory standards, creating product Safety Data Sheets (SDS), ensuring proper labeling of packaging, overseeing certifications, and staying informed with changes in regulations that may affect the fragrance industry.


• Ensuring we have timely and compliant product SDS’s for US and EU customers
• Gathering the appropriate SDS and CLP information from the various fragrance houses that supply us, or our Partners, with fragrance
• Working with a third party SDS authoring company to create Product SDS’s. Previous internal SDS authoring experience preferred
• Ensuring all product labeling complies with US and EU regulations (CLP, Ingredients, etc.)
• Ensuring that the appropriate certifications and documentation to support brand claims are acquired and organized
• Ability to analyze regulatory changes, make an appropriate action plan, and make independent decisions
• Organizing our regulatory information on SharePoint for easy access
• Interacting with our customers on any regulatory questions or needs they may have
• Filling out customer and third party regulatory databases like WERCSmart
• Identify potential risks and provide corrective action to ensure timely regulatory compliance for the company
• Ensuring our OEM manufacturing facilities have all applicable regulatory information
• Overseeing certification applications, documentation and maintenance programs (eg MadeSafe, EWG, EPA Safer Choice)
• Reviewing brand content to ensure compliance with brand claims (that are supported by documentation)

Requirements + Skills

• Proven work experience in the area of Regulatory Compliance
• Ability to work well in a team environment, but work independently to complete tasks
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and short deadlines
• Excellent information gathering skills and the ability to convert, summarize and communicate regulatory data to the organization
• Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and WERCSmart (desired)
• Highly organized and detail-oriented
• Effectively communication skills
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or related discipline
• Prior fragrance industry experience preferred but not required
• Prior experience with consumer product claims support highly preferred
