We are seeking an innovative and highly motivated Enterprise Design Systems Engineer on a contract basis to join our effort to be a premier online destination for all things in our company.

What you’ll do:


  • Build complex frontend features using React and Typescript

  • Collaborate with Designers to execute pixel-perfect designs

  • Document and communicate how your components behave so that other teams can get the most out of our design system

  • Contribute to usage and API documentation for both designers and engineers

  • Experience working in Agile software development process

  • Participate in processes and governance

  • Can deliver components that are accessible and WCAG AA compliant 

  • Partner with a cross-functional team of engineers and designers to define and prioritize features supporting priorities and outcomes

  • Continually improve the efficiency of the system

  • Develops action plans and processes, in coordination with the management team, for integrating activities and optimizing department resources to meet major goals and objectives.

  • Facilitates or performs application support, problem-solving, and issue resolution with internal and external resources. Contributes and reviews recommendations for technical solutions.

  • Manages and/or contributes to the technical components of the RFP process.

  • Resolves issues and determines options for issue resolution and risk mitigation.

  • Defines and communicates requirements for technical environments and determines the technical scope for projects.

  • Provides technical estimates for project budget input to Senior/Project Manager.

  • Leads and owns engagements with software vendors to ensure that code and configuration requirements and deliverables are met.

  • Enforces architecture, governance, security, and global process standards to system changes and deployments. Coordinates compliance issue identification and remediation.

  • Collaborates with other teams on integration needs/design. Contributes to database design and creates critical-path, high-risk, advanced technical designs.

  • Approves proof of concept efforts and reviews results.

  • Enforce Company and department architectural direction and ensure a consistent technical approach within the department.

  • Decide on engineering tools based on recommendations.

  • Allocate resources based on performance monitoring and tuning results.

  • Manage and enforce performance thresholds and standards

  • Review and approve performance test results, recommendations, and tuning results.

  • Oversee and is responsible for the creation of test plans, test execution, and validation of test results.

The ideal candidate must have:


  • 4+ years of direct development experience

  • Clean semantic skills when it comes to writing code

  • Excellent collaboration, communication, and relationship management skills

  • Highly developed empathy, curiosity, and imagination

  • Ability to thrive in ambiguity, a fast-paced environment, and take initiative

  • Impeccable execution and care of the craft when it comes to working with Designers and executing the work

  • Able to make tech decisions through discovery, research, and validation

  • Experience with front-end development such as HTML/CSS, JS/REACT/VUE, etc

  • Experience with modern JavaScript package management tools

  • Experience with back-end development such as Node and/or Python

  • Familiarity working on Design Systems and knowledge of frameworks

  • Experience scaling Design Systems from nothing

  • Experience taking a human-centered approach to your work

  • Experience with modern design productivity, workflow, and research tools (Figma, Jira, Slack, Miro, Monday, Adobe C, Google Analytics, Hotjar, Crazy Egg, Pendo, etc.)

  • Industry experience in retail, supply-chain operations, financial or demand planning

  • Strong interaction design skills

Education: 

  • Bachelor's degree Required

Hours & Location: 

M-F, 40 hours/week. This role will be remote while COVID restrictions are in place. The expectation is to be onsite at our Customer’s Hillsboro, OR location once it is deemed safe to do so.
