The Meadows Mental Health Policy Institute is pleased to announce the call for applications for our tenth annual Summer Internship Program. The program aims to provide interns with experience at the intersection of policy and programs to create equitable systemic changes so all people in Texas, the nation, and the world can obtain the health care they need.


This summer, internship opportunities are available in the following teams for qualified candidates:

  • Data & Analytics Team
  • Center for Child and Family Wellness
    • Higher Education and Social Welfare
    • K-12 Education
  • Center for Health System Transformation
    • Health System Integration
    • Paso del Norte Center (possible position to be hybrid of remote/in-person in El Paso, TX)
  • Center for Justice and Health
  • The Hackett Center for Mental Health
    • Health Equity
    • Women’s Health
  • Health and Public Safety Team (possible position to be hybrid of remote/in-person in Austin, TX)
  • Policy and Government Affairs Team
  • The Trauma and Grief Center

The summer internship runs from June 1 to August 16, 2024 and will be conducted remotely, unless stated of the possible hybrid position. Students who are either currently enrolled in a master’s or doctoral program, or individuals with a bachelor’s degree with at least two years of professional work experience, are encouraged to apply.


Application materials will be accepted until March 15, 2024.


Eligibility Requirements:

This position may not be filled or performed in California, Colorado, Hawaii, Montana, Rhode Island, or Washington at this time. Successful candidates must show proof of eligibility to work in the United States.

Requirements:
  • Students who are either currently enrolled in a master’s or doctoral program, or individuals with a bachelor’s degree with at least two years of professional work experience, are encouraged to apply.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with colleagues. This includes overcoming geographic and other potential barriers to communicating with and making contributions to the team’s work.
  • Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
  • Capacity to think strategically, critically, and respond analytically.
  • Flexibility in working with new issues, topics, and approaches.
