Job Description

The Lemoine Company is seeking a MEP Director. This position provides the overall leadership and management of the company's technical services group. This position will support all geographic business units (Lafayette, Baton Rouge and New Orleans) and market sectors (Health Care, Higher Education, Base Building and Interiors). This role manages the department's staff and resources responsible for delivering the technical expertise required within the scope of preconstruction services, Purchasing, Operations, Technology (Structured Cabling, Security & A/V), BIM/VDC, and Engineering. This position will also interact with clients, architects, engineers, commissioning agents, account executives, business development and operations to ensure clear understanding of project objectives, schedules and other key information.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Administer and coordinate bid process for hard bids, negotiated contracts, and design build projects
  • Preparation of schematic budgets for various project types
  • Participate in business development activities including participation in project interviews, industry/trade events, client events, etc.
  • Assist operations team with cost control beginning with conceptual budgeting through project completion
  • Create a detailed take off as necessary for projects
  • Identify potential scope gaps
  • Level MEP proposals
  • Prepare subcontractor and vendor scopes
  • Establish vendor master agreements with manufactures and distributers
  • Review equipment requirements and determine feasibility of equipment procurement
  • Work with operations team members to find ways to purchase, deliver, commission and closeout projects
  • Coordinate with project teams on how to properly utilize our low voltage and A/V capability
  • Provide the project teams with BIM/VDC support
  • Serve as a liaison between project and design teams
  • Manage the department's operating budget, resources, staffing levels, salaries and work assignments
  • Lead, supervise, mentor, evaluate and train the department's staff. Conduct annual performance reviews.
  • Participate in developing new business through the pursuit of project opportunities, communicate and promote the company's values and preconstruction services with clients, subcontractors, vendors, architects and engineers
  • Seek and distribute current information on trends in construction codes, practices and technology in order to ensure complete bids from subcontractors and material suppliers
  • Assist and support Operations Management in each office and participate in strategic and business planning for the company.


  • 10+ years of professional experience in the Commercial Construction Management and/or General contracting industry in positions responsible for estimating and preconstruction services in support of negotiated and hard-bid work
  • BS in Civil, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering Degree preferred
  • Past experience working for End users and/or owners; Mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineering firms
  • Ability to present to clients and engage and develop business with new and existing customers
  • Ability to lead the preparation and presentation of cost/budget information to the customer/owner
  • Ability to lead and facilitate value engineering sessions with the project team and design team
  • Experience leading teams
  • Excellent listening skills and strong communication skills
  • Create and innovate approaches and solutions on a project-by-project basis
  • Ability to prepare detailed instructions to bidders, trade specific clarifications and comprehensive bid packages
  • Conceptual ability to work with minimum information and quickly develop an understanding of the Owner/Architect requirements
  • Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in the construction management process as a general contractor gained through positions in estimating, preconstruction, project management, project engineering and field operations
  • Ability to accurately develop complete estimates that balance cost effectiveness and profitability with client satisfaction
  • Diverse project sector experience encompassing corporate real estate, office buildings, data centers, health care, higher education, hospitality. Project type experience must include new construction, core and shell, interiors, renovations, and MEP infrastructure
  • Strong leadership, management, business acumen, business development, client service, training and mentoring skills
  • Competent skills in utilizing estimating, project management and software applications
