The Residential Instructor aids individuals with intellectual disabilities in their group home. This includes assisting with daily activities, training independent living skills, and implementing behavior support plans (including crisis procedures). Along with assisting in the group home, the Residential Instructor is responsible for completing community outings.
Primary Job Responsibilities include:
- Support individuals with intellectual disabilities to be independent
- Following plans to teach independent living skills
- Assist with community outings
- Make sure student’s needs are met
Location:Jacksonville, AL (10 minutes from JSU, midway between Birmingham and Atlanta, an hour west of Birmingham)
The Learning Tree, Inc. is a non-profit organization providing applied behavior analytic service to children with intellectual disabilities and severe behavior problems within the state of Alabama. Our organization serves children by providing educational, residential, early intervention, and consultation services. Residential and educational services are provided to individuals from 6-21 years old through three Learning Tree campuses in Mobile, Jacksonville, and Tallassee.
For preschool age children, early intervention services are provided by The Little Tree Preschools in Auburn, Mobile, and Jacksonville. Our Woody’s Song program was open as an elementary school to continue and expand the early intervention program in Mobile. The Learning Tree’s Consultation services provide school consultation services throughout the entire state of Alabama.
Qualifications: Minimum of a High School Diploma; good driving record preferred; minimum of one year's experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities preferred
Salary:Based on shift
- 2nd shift Monday to Friday 2:25pm to 10:00pm; $7.50-$12.00 per hour
- Weekend Saturday & Sunday 7:30am to 10:00pm; $8.00-$12.00 per hour
