POSITION: Marketing and Communications Manager-ASL Fluent
We are looking for a dynamic Marketing & Communications Manager to join The
Learning Center for the Deaf Advancement team. The Marketing & Communications
Manager will be the primary storyteller of The Learning Center for the Deaf in promoting
our programs, services and success stories.
Experience in the Deaf Community and understanding and respect for Deaf Culture
Proficient in American Sign Language, Fluency preferred
Bachelor’s degree (Marketing, Communications Preferred)
Proactive and motivated, able to work independently, suggesting strategies to
address marketing challenges and work to solve them
Two years of relevant work experience in the marketing field
Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Demonstrated track record of helping to position an organization to achieve
measurable outcomes in a competitive communications environment
Website management experience and training
Excellent promotional skills, outstanding communications skills, and extensive
writing and editing experience and skills with a variety of print and online
Ability to produce high quality, persuasive written materials suitable for general
public understanding, requiring minimal revision
Proven ability to effectively manage projects including meeting tight deadlines
Strong knowledge and demonstrated use of social media to engage and deepen
relationships with the media and public
Creative and thoughtful on how new media technologies can be used.
Creative and enthusiastic problem solver
A strong foundation in Adobe Creative Suite and design basics preferred, but not

FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under direction of CAO, lead and oversee the development and execution of
overall communication messaging and strategy as well as marketing materials for
TLC in general, as well as all lines of service.
Serve as primary marketing lead, including project strategy, production of
materials, and tracking measurable results.
Manage and update the TLC website, including developing an integrated content
calendar, creating all written content/managing production of photo and video
content, analyzing site data to track and improve site effectiveness.
Manage organizational social media presence including creating and managing
content across multiple social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram)
and analyzing social media platform data to track and improve content reach.
Plan and execute regular electronic communications via Constant Contact to
network of eNews subscribers.
Develop and implement annual PR and advertising plan: writing press releases
related to events and assigned projects, writing position papers and opinion-
editorial pieces for key leaders where appropriate, event scripts, talking points,
etc. Analyze and report out on communication, advertising and PR effectiveness.
Marketing and Events:
Create and manage all TLC print and digital collateral.
Take the lead in developing stories about TLC for effective use in marketing
Collaborate to create major TLC events.
Support fundraising content needs.
Create and maintain manuals on standard operation procedures for all events
and other job functions.
