Title:SUBSTITUTE TEACHER: Spanish, Immersion Language for (Elementary)
Reports to: Head of Elementary
Duration: 1-2 month(s) +/- for a teacher on personal leave of absence
Schedule: Follows the class and school schedule 7:30 AM- 4:00 PM
Compensation: Based on degree and experience (Faculty scale)

We are interviewing now & hiring for a dynamic Substitute Spanish Language Immersion Teacher at The International School!
The International School in downtown Portland, OR has an immediate Substitutes opening forSpanish Immersion Elementary School Teacherwith native level fluency. The International School provides a warm multicultural environment where our students are fully immersed in Spanish, Japanese or Chinese language and culture. Our Language Immersion Substitute teacher will use the target language throughout the day while engaged with students.
We are looking for a native language speaker, who is passionate about teaching, creative, and motivated by new opportunities and challenges. We are seeking substitute teachers who will be committed to the mission and vision of The International School and able to demonstrate the values and traits of the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program and Learner Profile while teaching and working.
The ideal candidate will be dedicated to meeting the needs of diverse student learners, as well as, committed to being a collaborative team player who can work together with students, colleagues, the administrative team, and parents/community.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements
During peak activity periods, this position may require working in excess of 8 hours per day and/or 40 hours per week.
Capable of quickly traveling to multiple locations on school campus including up and down hills, lifting or otherwise carrying 40 pounds, traveling up/down flights of stairs, standing and sitting for long durations, typing for continuous hours on a computer keyboard, and reading information on a computer screen.
- Native level fluency in Spanish
- At least 1 year experience teaching preschool or elementary school-age children
- A Bachelor's degree in Education or Elementary/Early Childhood Education is preferred
- Knowledge and understanding of Inquiry Based-Primary Years Program pedagogy is a plus
- Experience teaching an immersion program
- Experience working in a multi-cultural environment
- Experience using technology in the classroom

Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Teaching/Education or equivalent experience
Demonstrated proficiency in written and spoken English
Native level fluency in the target language along with demonstrated ability to teach the target language
At least 1 year of professional teaching experience in a language immersion classroom
