Job Title: Spay/Neuter Animal Care Veterinarian Department: St. George, Utah Afordable Spay/Neuter, Vaccination Clinic Classification: Full-time exempt, salary (4 days per week, 10 hours per day, Wed. – Sat.) Job Relationship: Reports to the Southern Utah Executive. Provides clinical supervision of Veterinary Technicians, Assistants, and Volunteers. Position Summary: Provides spay/neuter surgeries in a high-quality, high-volume setting. Provides daily clinical supervision of veterinary technicians and assistants before, during, and after surgery. Manages affordable vaccination services and other clinic services. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________ COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: The Humane Society of Utah offers a competitive total compensation package including medical, dental, vision, and life insurance. Employees earn sick and vacation time, plus many recognized holidays. Salary $80,000-$100,000 DOE. Essential Job Functions: ● Examine animals pre-op to determine their ability to withstand surgery. ● Performs surgical sterilization (able to perform an average of 30 per 5-hour shift). ● Oversee all other aspects of veterinary care on Clinic days, including pre and postoperative care, anesthetic administration and monitoring, emergency care, restraint and treatment. ● Examine, diagnose and treat post-surgical medical complications of animals spayed/neutered. ● Represent the Humane Society of Utah in a professional and courteous manner at all times. ● Communicate effectively and in a professional manner with public and all Humane Society of Utah staff members. ● Provide compassionate customer service to rescue groups, shelters, and private clients. ● Adhere to all protocols put forth by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration. ● Follow all written and verbally communicated Humane Society of Utah Spay/Neuter Standard Operating Procedures. ● Provide training on Humane Society of Utah departmental Standard Operating Procedures internally and externally. ● Obtain continuing education as required by law. ● Attend all staff meetings and training sessions. ● Perform other duties as assigned. Education and Qualifications: ● Must have, or be able to obtain, current Utah Veterinary License. ● Must have Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree or equivalent. ● Must have a background in small animal medicine and surgery. ● Must have excellent work attendance record. ● 2 years of experience employed as Veterinarian preferred. ● Ability to pass a background check Knowledge and Skill Requirements: ● Must be interested in animal welfare population control and serving low-income communities. ● Must possess ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced clinic environment. ● Must possess ability to maintain good working relationships with clients and staff members. ● Must possess ability to work independently as well as part of a team. ● Must maintain an open mind regarding changes and be willing to learn, implement, and teach new protocols.
