Founded in 2008, The Hope Learning Center consists of multiple western Pennsylvania campuses offering outpatient physical, speech, occupational and applied behavior analysis (ABA) therapy, as well as a privately licensed academic school, early learning childcare, and consultative services for school districts and private companies. The company’s non-profit arm, The Hope for Autism Foundation, seeks to educate and assist the public on Autism Spectrum Disorder.

The Hope Learning Center is looking for a part-time Special Education Teacher or Paraprofessional to ensure that the student meets the goals and objectives of the school; to improve education for students affected by developmental disorders through curriculum development, teacher training, family support, arts outreach, technology, and public awareness. This position will work in the clients home during the school day with the student Monday-Friday 20 hours a week.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree (preferred)
  • PA Teaching certification (preferred)
  • Special Education certification (preferred)
  • Experience working with individuals with developmental delays
  • Experience with emotional support
  • Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance
  • Act 34 State Criminal History Clearance
  • Act 114 FBI Clearance
  • Act 168 Clearance
  • Mandated Reporter Training
  • Current Physical and TB Test
  • CPR/First Aid Training

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 behavioral and academic support and remediation for students in all areas
  • Plan, prepare, and implement appropriate lesson plans for the development of specific skills
  • Set specific goals for improvement and use assessment to gauge skill development
  • Communicate with IEP team about student progress and needs
  • Attend and be an active participant in IEP meetings
  • Write and manage annual IEPs for all assigned students
  • Collect accurate and reliable data on all IEP goals and other target skills
  • Advise parents and teachers on implementation of programs
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress
  • Work with others to improve the effectiveness of service delivery
  • Participate in research projects.
  • Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities
  • Perform any additional duties as deemed necessary by the educational director
