The role

Reporting directly to the Director of Finance, our new Staff Accountant will be handling a diverse array of accounting responsibilities, all requiring constant collaboration with financial team members and other departments.

What you'll do
  • Responsible for the month-end close process and general ledger accounting in the following areas: accounts payable and receivable, accruals, cash, credit card, fixed assets, prepaids and taxes

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual balance sheet account reconciliations

  • Perform the monthly credit card reconciliation

  • Process expense reports including both employee reimbursable reports and corporate credit card reports using the company expense reporting software (Expensify)

  • Build new vendor relationships and obtain W9s for new vendors

  • Troubleshoot and resolve vendor invoices and employee expense questions or concerns

  • Prepare the annual 1099 reporting

  • Record all cash transactions and reconcile the bank accounts

  • Provide support of the annual audit of the company’s financial statements with the preparation of audit schedules, supporting documentation and answering questions

  • Ensure hotel tax compliance to the applicable city, county and state tax filings and payments

  • Identify areas for improvement in accounting processes and implement changes to improve effectiveness and efficiency

  • Perform other duties as needed

  • Well-organized and capable of prioritizing multiple tasks to meet deadlines

  • Detail-oriented, analytical, and accurate

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Highly adaptable, can handle ambiguity, able to operate in a fast-paced environment

Bonus points
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting

  • Startup experience

  • Experience in the hospitality/hotel or real estate industry

  • Experience with Gmail, Google Meet, Google Docs

  • Experience with MEWS

  • Your GIF and meme game is strong to very strong
