Job Description

Woman-owned hospital seeking an enthusiastic Associate Veterinarian with a positive attitude and desire to learn and grow.

We are a privately owned hospital in Oakland, California in the San Francisco Bay Area.  After years of working in various hospital settings we decided to create the kind of hospital WE want to work in. We believe leadership should be in the hands of veterinarians, not corporations.

If you are looking to share every work day with smart, kind, energetic and compassionate doctors and staff who are capable of working autonomously but value a collaborative approach, then you will find yourself right at home in this team focused hospital. We are looking for an extraordinary associate doctor to join our family and who brings their own experience to the hospital but also has a desire to learn, to take on new responsibilities, and to be challenged.

Our full-service, state of the art hospital is equipped with electronic medical records, digital x-ray, digital dental x-ray, the entire Idexx suite of in-house laboratory machines and Idexx reference  labs.  We have a high quality ultrasound machine and access to board certified radiologists for advanced care and rad-reviews. Our cytology and pathology specimens are submitted to a small diagnostic pathology lab, VDX, for improved ability to interact with pathologists directly. We have excellent relationships with local specialists for referrals and support.

We currently have 5 doctors, 5 licensed veterinary technicians, and a large skilled staff to support us. We are weeks from completing a brand new expansion, doubling our available hospital and treatment space. We are excited to grow and continue to offer excellent medical care to our patients.

We take pride in long-lasting relationships with all our clients and patients. These relationships are based on the trust we have earned from years of caring for our community. We strongly value a positive and caring work environment. Our hospital provides a high level of autonomy while still fostering a cooperative and collaborative atmosphere. We are open to new ideas, suggestions, and are constantly working to keep our standard of care at the forefront of best practices and improve quality of medicine and care as the field evolves.

Our hospital is exclusively small animal and provides wellness checks, emergency services, soft tissue surgery, and dentistry. Our focus is on a high standard of patient care, client satisfaction, the resolution of chronic and acute conditions, and the well-being of our staff.

We offer:

  • Competitive Salary

  • Bonus Pay

  • Paid Time Off

  • 401(k) with 4% gross salary employer match, pre-tax and after-tax Roth

  • Medical, Dental, Vision

  • Supplemental insurance (disability, short term and long term, accident hospitalization)

  • Discounts on pet care

  • Generous CE Allowance

  • Paid state and DEA licenses, membership dues, and Liability Insurance

  • VIN membership

  • Work/Life Balance

Skills and Basic Qualifications

  • A Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or related degree from an accredited university.

  • Licensure in good standing to practice in California.

  • Commitment to practicing the highest standard of medicine and upholding the veterinary code of ethics.
