The Dispatch is a newly launched media company focused on providing thoughtful and engaging, fact-driven, center-right news and commentary through newsletters, podcasts, web content, and events. Our mission is defending America's founding principles, time-tested values, and important democratic institutions, in order to advance human flourishing, through serious, thoughtful reporting and commentary from a center right perspective. We are a team of experts from well-known media and public policy-oriented organizations banding together around this shared mission to execute a strategy of building the next generation digital media brand.
The Director of Growth Marketing is a full-time position responsible for building the marketing function at an early stage media company. Reporting to the President of the company, the Director will own and drive our audience acquisition and retention strategy for several products (podcasts, newsletters, site, events).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Build, manage, and develop the audience acquisition function of the company, including paid, earned, and owned channels
Grow audience and subscriptions for the business across multiple channels
Drive newsletter free-to-paid conversion for a variety of pushed-content products
Work cross-platform to ensure our messaging and brand voice is aligned in all paid marketing, product marketing, digital marketing, and content marketing
Write lifecycle, loyalty and retention communications for all products
Optimize messaging for acquisition and to maximize ROI
Execute brand marketing initiatives alongside other teams (i.e. media sales, events, etc)
Other duties as assigned by the President, CEO, and Editor in Chief
Skills and Qualifications:
A background in consumer-facing companies with a role focused on digital marketing or equivalent, ideally within a content-driven organization
Demonstrated and quantitative track record of developing one, or many channels, for customer acquisition, retention, and growth
Interest in growing a consumer brand at a early-stage digital media company
Strong entrepreneurial attitude
Eye for the big picture, but also an enjoyment of hands-on, day-to-day operations
Creative approach to problem-solving
Experience in newsletter audience/monetization a plus
