Job Description
The Illinois Justice Project (ILJP) is a continuation of the Justice and Violence Group at Metropolis Strategies and engages in criminal justice reform efforts that promote policies that will make our communities safer and reduce recidivism among youths and adults. Established in 2014 as a legacy project of Metropolis Strategies, the non-profit ILJP is a supporting organization of the Chicago Community Trust and an affiliate of The Commercial Club of Chicago. In this role, the incumbent will implement programs that align with ILJP's organizational mission and goals as assigned by leadership.

Primary responsibilities will be serving as program manager for the Illinois Reentry Council assisting with policy development, scheduling meetings and events with assistance of Program Coordinator; developing agendas, relevant materials need to assist related workgroups; guide discussions, understand key obstacles to progress and help brainstorm and coordinate solutions, engage the right stakeholders to accelerate progress, and implement elements of strategic plans; participate in developing the annual report and revisions/updates to strategic plan as necessary.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Manage and assemble teams of stakeholders with the needed capacities and relationships to achieve the targeted results of the Illinois Reentry Council
  • Manage the necessary collaborative relationships to assist in developing an inclusive reentry model to advance the strategy, including technical assistance providers, financial institutions, neighborhood organizations, foundations, investors, housing developers, real estate professionals, government agencies, internal staff at the Illinois Justice Project, and other critical stakeholders
  • Support and manage strategic planning implementation with ILJP Staff
  • Develop communications, reporting and accountability structure to communicate the purpose of IRC for multiple audiences and to report on its progress
  • Manage impact reporting for the Illinois Reentry Council to share with partners and key stakeholders
  • Manage the compilation and preparation of materials for regular monthly and quarterly meetings and larger convenings
  • Review data and assist staff in conducting research, evaluations and identifying other information useful to the events
  • Conduct other duties as assigned by the Director
  • Collaborate with Director and Communications staff in maintaining website
  • Technology advisor to ILJP to utilize and maintain appropriate platforms and systems, as well as provide training and support on new and updated programs


Experience and Skills
Position Qualifications:
  • At least 5+ years administrative/project management experience or Bachelor's Degree
  • Proficiency in project management
  • Detail-oriented with excellent analytical skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Access
  • Familiarity with social media
  • Excellent writing and presentation skills
  • Excellent organization skills
  • Strong multi-tasking and time-management skills
  • Willingness and ability to treat sensitive and personal information confidentially
  • Has good initiative and follow through, completes tasks in a timely fashion.
  • Understanding of how to prioritize tasks
