Small business and real estate firm seeks corporate paralegal or legal secretary to assist with our commercial cannabis practice in Orange County. Cannabis industry experience preferred.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Answering phones, client intake and scheduling consultations and appointments, processing payment (script provided)
Provide expert paralegal and administrative support with minimal supervision; demonstrate exceptional organizational skills and handle various legal tasks with strong attention to detail.
Prepare, edit, review, and organize client documents, including corporate formation and organizational documents, board resolutions, contracts, leases, licenses, applications, corporate filings and relevant client information for attorney review.
Prepare and organize redline/blackline versions of documents during drafting and prepare & organize closing packages and signature pages for deal closings using DocuSign and Adobe.
Research and communications for cannabis regulatory applications and permits.
Ensure documentation is properly filed electronically and physically.
Prepare and file annual reports, EINs, and UCC financing statements, securities filings, among others, in a variety of jurisdictions.
Maintenance of templates and SOPs for corporate document forms, workflows, and databases.
Occasional legal research using Lexis and THC Regs.
Maintain calendar with reminders to attorneys of upcoming deadlines and follow up.
General office duties.
Prior knowledge of Clio Management a plus.
Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred.
3+ years of experience working as a Paralegal or Legal Assistant preferred.
Exceptional organization skills, strong self-motivator with high attention to detail.
Ability to learn quickly in face paced environment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat.
Experience with Practice Management Lexis/Nexis, and DocuSign preferred.
Experience in cannabis industry a plus
Excellent time and deadline management skills in fast-paced environment, able to juggle multiple projects and reprioritize quickly and efficiently.
Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work in a collaborative manner.
Excellent oral and written communication skills including familiarity with common legal terminology.
Ability to uphold highest standards of discretion and confidentiality and exercise good judgment on day-to-day decisions.
