The Senior Financial Reporting Analyst position will be responsible for ensuring that all financial statements, reports and disclosures are complete, accurate and timely for SEC reporting, and for internal reporting to the Executive team. This role will be the go-to person for questions and guidance of the Companys accounting policies, processes, and controls. This role reports to the Financial Reporting & Corporate Accounting Manager in our clients Downtown Houston, TX office. Salary and level commensurate with experience.
Roles & Responsibilities
Prepare and review financial statements and related schedules for the monthly financial package; attend and participate in monthly financial review meetings with management
Compile and review monthly and quarterly variance analysis and explain significant variances in financial statement accounts, utilizing input from the respective account owners in the accounting department
Compile, draft and review 10-K and 10-Q drafts; update disclosures for the current reporting period; ensure SEC compliance of 10-Q/K through review of financial statement disclosure checklists, authoritative accounting guidance and other resources
Assist in maintaining organized tie-out and support binders for all filings
Prepare/review XBRL tagging of financial statements and footnotes for Forms 10-K and 10-Q
Coordinate with other departments to obtain information for 10-Q/K disclosures
Coordinate with independent auditors in order to facilitate a successful audit and provide documentation requests as necessary
Draft quarterly earnings releases and review investor presentations, Board presentations and other materials
Draft compliance filings to maintain covenants required under the credit agreement
Assist with information gathering and tie-out of the annual proxy statement
Assist with information gathering, circle-ups and tie-out of registration statements, as necessary
Record and review journal entries, as necessary
Responsible for ensuring data is accurately maintained in the accounting system, including opening and closing monthly financial periods and chart of accounts maintenance
Maintain current understanding of GAAP and SEC guidelines; research technical accounting issues
Draft memos on technical accounting matters, as necessary
Maintain SOX controls
Participate in special projects, as needed

Requirements
Bachelors degree in Accounting
Minimum 3 years of experience
Big 4 public accounting experience
Broad exposure to financial reporting, SEC filings and the external audit process
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Excel proficient
Proven leadership and coaching skills
Proactive and deadline driven
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Organized, proactive and deadline driven
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions, strength to lift and carry files weighing up to 10 pounds, vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone.
Preferred
Upstream oil and gas accounting experience
CPA
Experience with Workiva
Experience with Planful (or similar applications such as OneStream or Hyperion)
Experience with XBRL
Masters Degree in Accounting
