Job Description

 

Guest Services Associates (GSA’s) are responsible for providing a hospitable culture and outstanding services for persons experiencing homelessness. As a GSA you are responsible for connecting and assisting homeless individuals (guests) to on-site basic needs services such as meals, showers, mail, storage, personal care, and intake. Then to supportive services, care management and partner services that lead to ending homelessness.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Assist with data entry of guests entering the program

· Greet guests and provide encouragement and support in accessing services

· Connect guests to appropriate resources

· Assist guests with paperwork, applications and/or telephone calls

· Engage guests through frequent interaction and modeling of positive behavior

· De-escalate or provide engaging intervention for guests exhibiting disruptive or inappropriate behavior

· Partner with Safety, Peers, and Services staff to promote a safe and healthy environment

· Gather information or statistics for reporting, using database for entries of services as directed

· Accurately record events that occur in a logbook and report to shift coordinator before end of work day

Envisioned in the early 2000's by homeless advocates, including then-Homeless Czar Mike Rawlings, The Bridge opened in 2008 as a privately managed collaborative project built by the City of Dallas and funded by public and private donations. In FY17, The Bridge served 8,646 individuals experiencing homelessness, which accounts for 85 percent of Dallas County's homeless population.
In a city with a homeless population of 5,000, The Bridge has become an internationally recognized model for adult homeless recovery focused on the treatment of mental illness and addiction. The Bridge is the only homeless recovery program in Dallas open to all adults, providing the homeless a safe and secure environment for growing in self-determination 24 hours each day, 365 days a year.
