About the Job:

Reporting to the Director of Philanthropy & Operations, the Senior Manager, Digital Fundraising and Donor Relations, will support the work of the Philanthropy team and the Institute's leadership by spearheading our digital fundraising initiatives and providing customized stewardship of donors. The role will create a tailored fundraising strategy for specific web and digital platforms (Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, etc.) to acquire, cultivate, diversify, and steward donors. Additionally, they will curate an exceptional donor experience for our Founding Member program and support donor relations and stewardship across all our donors. As building the operation is fluid, these responsibilities may be subject to adjustment.

  • Develop best practices and strategies for digital fundraising channels and expand digital fundraising across multiple platforms to support annual targets
  • Utilize analytics to monitor and improve the donor journey, increase response rates and donor retention, and diversify the donor pool
  • Establish metrics to measure the success of digital engagement and revise strategy based on performance for maximum impact
  • Support creation of donor relations and stewardship processes and assist with designing and producing events and other efforts to engage and steward donors through various methods (digital, in-person, etc.)
  • Build a first-class donor experience for our Founding Member program and develop other donor engagement strategies/programs as needed
  • Create tailored communications and messaging for donors based on multi-faceted strategies
  • Support enhancement and re-design fundraising web pages to increase engagement while ensuring language are consistent with brand guidelines
  • Other duties as needs dictate - flexibility is critical in a startup environment

  • Three to four years of development/fundraising experience, preferably in a nonprofit setting. Prior experience in nonprofit journalism or media organizations is a plus. Familiarity with the Baltimore philanthropic/ foundations landscape is desired
  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • Strong writing/editing skills, including some demonstrated experience writing fundraising copy for a digital audience
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Experience working with Salesforce or similar donor software is strongly preferred. Experience working with MailChimp and Eventbrite or other similar platforms.
  • Excellent attention to detail and working responsibly with highly confidential information
  • Ability and willingness to learn new skill sets, technologies, and processes. Curiosity leads to growth and innovation
