WHO YOU ARE

An Out of the Box thinker! As the Data Scientist you are responsible for producing innovative solutions driven by exploratory data analysis from complex and high-dimensional datasets.  The objective of this role will be to make valuable discoveries leading to consumer trend insights, product and service development direction, channel marketing assessments, pricing, resource optimization, and anticipate the next key business questions.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Work collaboratively with all aspects of the business including sales, digital eCommerce, product development, marketing, operations, analytics, and IT teams.
  • Conceptualizing, designing and building out decision making models for the business.
  • Utilize the application of statistical tools, machine learning, programming, data modeling, simulation, and advanced mathematics to recognize patterns, identify opportunities, and pose business critical questions to help solve.
  • Use a flexible, analytical approach to design, develop, and evaluate predictive models and advanced algorithms that lead to optimal value extraction from the data.
  • Generate and test hypotheses, analyze and interpret the results of model experiments

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Statistics or Engineering. MBA or master’s degree a plus
  • Data tools and software experience in R, Python, MatLab, Hadoop, AI / Machine Learning tools
  • Technical Skills in the following:
    • Statistics
    • Machine learning
    • Artificial Intelligence
    • Data Modelling
    • Programming / Coding
    • Simulation
    • High Level Pricing Analysis
  • Possess leadership skills in order to affect change in the organization
  • Be commercially driven and have strong consumer understanding
  • Ability to anticipate the critical questions the business needs to answer to win
  • Must have positive attitude, detail-oriented, a team player, internet savvy, a proactive self-starter
  • Creative problem solving- work proactively to solve problems, as they arise, with solutions that satisfy all parties
  • Ability to assess multiple tasks and develop a plan to complete them concurrently in a logical and efficient manner

Relevant Work Experience:

  • Consumer related and Commercially focused experience
  • Statistical model development
  • Predictive AI experience
  • Ability to use internal and external big data sources
  • Work closely with IT resources to bring solutions to scale within the business
  • Management of a data analytics team
  • 5-7 years’ experience with a large company
  • eCommerce Retail experience a plus
