Business Unit Executive - Health, Washington, DC

Our client, based out of Washington, DC, is seeking a Business Unit Executive - Health for a direct hire opportunity.  Candidate needs to be local to MD/DC/NOVA.

Description

Our client has an opportunity for an Executive to join their senior leadership team reporting to the COO. The successful candidate will be responsible for the strategy, delivery, resource management, performance and growth of the Business Unit. Our client currently has contracts at HHS, NIH, FDA and DHA.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the achievement of performance targets and strategic initiatives by setting and meeting operational goals that are consistent with the vision of the organization.
  • Manage a team of Program Directors and Managers with overarching responsibility for contract delivery, business performance, as well managing relationships with clients.
  • As a key member of our senior leadership team, this person will work as an integral team member aligned with others leading Technology, Growth and Business across the portfolio.
  • The position is fully responsible for all aspects of P&L for their Delivery Portfolio, including program delivery, periodic reviews, proactive customer engagement, and assessments for exceeding the performance objectives of the programs.
  • Responsible for managing planned revenue, P&L, execution of program growth initiatives.
  • Establish and implement key metrics and key performance indicators (KPI), which provide periodic and a quality check of programs, contracts, and customer relationship at all levels of decision making on accounts.
  • Develop and provide oversight for business unit strategy development, opportunity identification and qualification, as well as capture and proposal efforts to secure new or re-compete contracts, or task order business.
  • Ensure delivery quality.
  • Manage and develop personnel resources.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key partners, federal agency officials, and other stakeholders.
  • Manage the business risk associated with the delivery of new solutions.
  • Hire, train, coach, counsel, and evaluate the performance of direct reports.
  • Ensure constant communication with customers to actively mitigate any issues or concerns.

Requirements

  • A Bachelors in related field and at least 10 years of experience leading and managing large-scale technical and mission critical programs.
  • At least 10 years of proven experience in federal government program management. Must be capable of leading projects that involve the successful management of multi-functional teams.
  • Project management certification such as a PMP.
  • Must have specialized experience including project development, expertise in management and control of funds and resources, demonstrated capability in managing multiple tasks.
  • Demonstrated outstanding written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong leadership.
  • Developed problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent presentation & communication skills in both oral and written form.
  • Genuine desire to learn is essential.
  • Business acumen and ability to build a strategic plan around a 20% growth target.
  • Entrepreneur drive and commitment.
  • Customer intimacy and federal government relationships.
  • Proven history in target agencies.
  • A leader that is good with people at all levels.
  • Knowledge of hiring and how to develop the next tier.
  • Self-motivated and independent.
  • Financial management experience.
  • Technical experience and depth.
