Description

As a Business System Analyst, you are an integral part of our client's solutions. Their goal is to significantly reduce if not eliminate the natural friction between users and their technical resources. Hired for their ability to process and synthesize information quickly, our client's business system analysts serve as a conduit for the flow of information to the technical team. Because our client's stakeholders are not always used to talking with technical resources, the Business System Analyst takes the client's user stories and needs and turns them into requirements documents, or blueprints for technical teams. They glide seamlessly from one environment to another providing updates to client stakeholders and securing needed input for developers and architects.

As a Business System Analyst, you will be working on a variety of open-source data solutions that collect, reconcile, transform, and standardize data for business intelligence, predictive analytics, decision support, and user transactions. No two days will be the same, but every project requires you to be familiar with databases and have a proven ability to plan projects and support implementation. You could find yourself working with a variety of clients ranging from a large federal agency or a local healthcare insurance provider.

Responsibilities
  • Collect, define, and document requirements through in-person or virtual meetings with clients.
  • Ensure requirements are clear, specific, necessary, unambiguous, and include acceptance criteria.
  • Evaluate business processes, anticipating requirements, uncovering areas for improvement, and developing and implementing solutions.
  • Conduct meetings and presentations to share ideas and findings.
  • Effectively communicating your insights and plans to cross-functional team members and management.
  • Prioritize initiatives based on business needs and requirements.
  • Translate client requests and business requirements into well-defined configuration and/or development tasks.
  • Ensure solutions meet business needs and requirements.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, CIS, Information Technology, or Business Analysis or a related technical field or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience working as a business systems analyst on a modernization effort with a data component preferably on federal healthcare.
  • A minimum of 3 years identifying, developing, writing, and maintaining user stories, software requirements, specifications, system documentation, test records.
  • Working knowledge of project planning, analysis, design and implementation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Familiarity with SQL.
  • Experience working with stakeholders to define the problem, explore options, and implement solutions.
  • Exceptional communication, writing, coordination, and facilitation skills.
  • Comfort working independently, managing competing priorities, and proactively communicating with client stakeholders as needed.
  • Adaptability in a fast-paced and changing environment and ability to work well under pressure, take ownership over assignments, and organize and manage in all directions (up, down, and across peers).
  • Demonstrated experience and references who are willing to speak to your skills and qualification.
  • An extraordinary communicator with the ability to do simultaneous translation of user stories into technical requirements and vice versa.

Desired

  • Developing documentation related to systems handling medical data and/or the interpretation of federal law & regulation.
  • Creating conceptual business models, such as business process models, operational views, and domain models.
  • Producing documentation related to Section 508 compliance, accessibility, and usability testing.
  • Maintaining requirements for a federal IT platform or service.
  • Using Git/Github, preferably contributing to open-source projects.
