Now, about you...

The Engineering Assistant/CAD Technician will work with engineers, scientists and senior designers to develop designs for civil, environmental, and infrastructure projects; analyzing data, and assisting in the gathering of information and in the preparation of the data. He/she also assists in the engineering designs and technical research, including plans, specifications, and reports for projects at the Base.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Works directly with supervisor and ensures he/she is well aware of unique situations and/or problems that are encountered, while identifying other work requirements for resolution.
  • Provides CAD services for project designs and Civil Engineer's non- project related CAD work.
  • Delivers CAD services in current version of Autodesk AutoCAD format and meet current Tri-Service A/E/C CAD standards.
  • Maintains and updates drawings and maps for installation.
  • Manages, organizes, files, maintains and update changes to survey data from field changed mark-up drawings or redline drawings.
  • Maintains and organizes the Government drawing archives, original drawings and records, Area Development Plan maps, tabs, photos, and negatives.
  • Assists with drawing research.
  • Maintains directory and file security to ensure files and as-built post construction completion files are accurately portrayed and protected.
  • Develops, updates and ensures master facility floor plans portray the current fixed wall layout.
  • Provides CAD support for drawing files and related documents using drawing manager software.
  • Supports data entry and adds drawing metadata using Vault interface.
  • Reviews data within system for errors and inconsistencies between drawings and related data.
  • Updates existing file information in system to include updating existing drawing file information and adding information that is absent from existing drawing files.
  • Provides support and input to the project manager/engineer during project scoping and during the design process.
  • Interfaces with customers and is responsible for customer feedback, as applicable.
  • Operates motor vehicles in accordance with company policy.
  • Complies with applicable federal, state, United States Air Force (USAF) and OSHA environmental laws and regulations.
  • Follows Tehama, LLC and HDRs furnished information directives, policies and procedures and contract requirements.
  • Complies with health and safety rules and procedures; performs work in a manner that enhances the safety of the work environment.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.


What are we looking for?

  • Associates Degree in Engineering Science or Computer Science with focus on CAD.
  • 5 years in engineering and construction field.
  • Must be able to pass a security background check and obtain a CAC.
  • Knowledge and Experience with current GIS/engineering software such as AutoDesk and AutoCAD
  • Knowledge of construction and GPS surveying methods, equipment, and techniques used in the collection of GIS Data, determining distances, elevations, areas, angles, land boundaries, and other features
  • Knowledge of symbols, terminology and standards used in engineering drawings
  • Knowledge of industry codes and standards.
  • Proven planning and problem solving skills.

Preferred (not required):
  • Previous experience working on a military installation.
  • Experience working within an Air Force Civil Engineering Program Familiarity with military-specific facility/infrastructure codes and standards, as applicable.
  • Secret or above security clearance a plus
