Overview: The position will lead the financial, accounting, and business operations needed to achieve TCAA’s vision, mission, and goals. Responsible for maintaining an online accounting software and cost allocation system including the management of funding and contractual requirements from diverse revenue sources. Develops budget and policy recommendations and provides leadership in fiduciary oversight and accountability. Director of Finance oversees all company financial activities to ensure it stays in strong financial standing. Their main duties include building revenue reports, distributing calculated funds to various departments and implementing company financial policies. The position receives part-time support from an Administrative Assistant and works collaboratively with leadership staff, the Board of Directors, other employees, and funders.

Major Duties:

  • Responsible for accurate and timely financial reporting and general accounting, internal accounting and controls, cash flow management, accounting systems, forecasting, and budgeting.
  • Manage TCAA’s online accounting system and chart of accounts, maintaining all records under General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Manages accounts payable and accounts receivable. Ensures that revenue and expenses are accurately allocated and recorded. Ensures appropriate cash flow practices to meet expenditures.
  • Manage investments and bank accounts in alignment with policies and procedures. Maintain banking relationships.
  • Prepare financial statements. Conduct financial analysis and prepare detailed reports of variances. Develop financial recommendations, budgets, and cost allocation plans.

  • Oversee and/or directly prepare reports related to payroll and personnel administration.
  • Develop and oversee accounting policies and procedures, ensure legal and regulatory compliance for all accounting and financial reporting functions, and disclose deviations from procedures, shortcomings in systems, errors, needed changes, or possibilities of fraud
  • Manage purchasing including procurement processes, equipment, hardware/software and supplies
  • Serves as initial liaison between employees and 3rd party IT managed services provider
  • Assist the CEO and leadership team in submitting funding requests. Supervise the financial management of all restricted gifts, funding contracts and awards. Prepare governmental and funding reports.
  • Provide leadership in financial controls. Conduct internal reviews to ensure compliance. Develop and oversee procedures that ensure appropriate segregation of duties. Train and support staff and volunteers on internal controls.
  • Oversee the preparation of, including gather information for the annual independent audit and all required tax filings (Form 990, etc); interface with external auditors/ CPAs
  • Provide support to the Internal Affairs Committee and Board of Directors

Other Duties:

  • Ensure that TCAA’s policies, standards, and decisions are implemented and maintained. Foster appropriate communication and positive relationships between the Board, staff, volunteers and offices /centers
  • Serve as a member TCAA’s leadership team, participating in the development of organizational plans and coordinating with other members in specific functional areas
  • Other duties as needed and appropriately assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, with CPA or related distinction. Master’s degree preferred, but not required.
  • A minimum of five years progressive responsible work history in financial analysis, to include community non-profit and grant management experience.
  • Proven ability to manage a budget of at least $5 million.
  • Proven work history of effective bookkeeping, accounting, and budget development and oversight. Effective financial analysis skills, including, but not limited to the ability to analyze and explain budget variances. Strong organizational skills and attention to accuracy.
  • Prior experience in contract management particularly with IT vendors preferred.
  • Previous experience in procurement preferred.
  • Demonstrated written and oral communication skills. Ability to write concise policy and procedure recommendations, proposals, correspondence, and reports.
  • Skill in explaining budgets to mixed audiences.
  • Effective interpersonal skills. Ability to encourage teamwork and work cooperatively with others.
  • High level of proficiency in using related computer technology and accounting software.

Requirements:

  • Possess valid AZ driver’s license and vehicle to use in performance of job.
  • Ability to obtain Level I Fingerprint Clearance Card and compliance to TCAA’s background check policies.

  • Status/ Hours: Full-time exempt position. Primarily weekday office hours, with evening and weekend work required at times.
