Overview: TelCom Construction is looking for motivated employees to join our team! We’re looking for Fiber Optic/Copper Splicer who are ready to roll up their sleeves and who want to make a difference by building tomorrow’s Utility Infrastructure. We are currently hiring for full-time Fiber/Copper Splicers to work out of our Marion, IA office. Responsibilities:Terminates, splices and preps Fiber Optic/Copper pedestals and enclosuresPerforms OTDR, power meter and PON testing with various types of equipmentSplices and repairs new and existing plant, buried and aerial cable using all types of construction methods and manufacturer procedures.Mounts building entrance terminals and terminates within themPerforms cutovers and cable throwsWorks with live circuitsLoads and unloads suppliesPerforms general clean upProvides accurate daily timekeepingAll other duties as assigned Qualifications:Previous experience splicing fiber optic and/or copper cableAbility to read electronic and paper schematics, maps and printsAbility to apply reasoning and understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructionsAbility to meet the physical requirements of the positionsAbility to work in all weather conditionsA valid driver’s license with a good driving record is requiredMust maintain a current DOT health certificateClass A CDL is a plus (higher wage scales apply to CDL holders)Ability to work in emergencies at night and weekends if neededAbility to be on an on-call rotationRegular out-of-town travel as required Physical Requirements: The work environment characteristics and physical demands described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
