POSITION SUMMARY

The Operations Manager manages several supervisors working under the plant director's supervision. The role of Operations Manager is to provide leadership of machining, assembly, logistics, and maintenance. The Operations Manager's key challenge is to maintain production within specific guidelines for production efficiency, labor cost, and quality. The role requires the above to be accomplished within Tecomet's principles of continuous improvement, customer driven innovation and a win first culture, while meeting company financial and other performance metrics.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITES

  • Responsibility for leading a technical team in achieving business and operational objectives.
  • Maintain and improve a lean manufacturing system.
  • Ensure non value added activity is reduced in all manufacturing processes by using lean / kaizen tools and techniques.
  • Take responsibility for operation costs and conformance with budgets and targets.
  • Introduce new targets and KPIs to measure performance.
  • Promote improvement in equipment and process performance.
  • Identify and implement cost saving initiatives.
  • Work in conjunction with Engineering, Quality and Production to ensure Operational objectives are met.
  • Liaise with engineering department to assist with the introduction of new products and equipment.
  • Support engineering to deliver yield, NPI and efficiency goals.
  • Identify new manufacturing agents to improve throughput and increase tool life while driving down costs.
  • Present, where appropriate, technical data to internal / external audit and inspection groups as required.
  • Drive the production support teams with input from all relevant parties at daily meetings (Process Technician's / Engineering, Team Leads, Maintenance, Quality, Stores, Purchasing, Planning, & HR).
  • Organize and control shift patterns to meet the needs of the business.
  • Streamline existing production / process lines. Implement automation where required.
  • Drive implementation of solutions to issues identified during Gemba walks.
  • Liaise with the planning and purchasing departments to ensure that production objectives can be met.
  • Comply with all relevant training requirements and adhere to relevant associated documentation.
  • Ensure that production personnel are aware of and adhere to all procedures and cGMP requirements.
  • Promote & maintain awareness and compliance of Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Policies in accordance with best practice and legal requirement.
  • Promote and uphold company performance standards and ideology (on time delivery, quality, lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, housekeeping & work ethic).
  • Manage, Motivate and Develop the Operations Team.
  • Direct Reports include Production Supervisors, Maintenance, and EHS.
  • Provide technical leadership for operations personnel involved in process engineering and development activities.
  • Identify individual training needs.
  • Implement, monitor and review training and development plans.
  • Conduct and record annual performance appraisals.
  • Develop harmonious inter-departmental working relationships within operations and other functions, and ensure employees within operations have the necessary information and resources to effectively perform their jobs.
  • Address any staff discipline or grievance issue, maintaining appropriate records in accordance with company procedures.
  • Establish goals and objectives for self and team and implement accordingly to help support / improve job performance (experience, ability, competence)
  • Travel requirements up to 5%


REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to work independently and exercise judgment
  • Preferred background in FDA regulations and/or ISO13485 environments.
  • Previous EHS experience
  • Leading and managing teams of 50+ employees
  • High mix / low volume machining environment background
  • Experience with Epicor


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; minimum 7-10 years related experience
