Our engineering culture

The company is entering a new chapter of its growth with an increased focus on our B2B solutions. We anticipate growing our team commensurate with B2B channel growth. The majority of our seven person engineering team has been together for more than four years and we are a close, high functioning team.

  • We care about our mission of improving our clients’ lives first and foremost

  • Team first, Team Second, Team Third

  • We are kind and empathetic

  • We love working collaboratively but we also know how to GSD

  • We have high autonomy and we trust one another

  • We help one another level-up every day and we love learning and growing

  • We focus on the problem, not the person

  • No surprises- open communication at all times on all issues

  • Go the extra mile to ensure our systems are secure and stable

Some challenges we need your help solving

  • Stability and Growth - You can help us prepare for rapid adoption, foster redundancy, increase security, build core functionality to meet business goals.

  • Architecture and Roadmapping - You’ll help us integrate a new robust platform into ours. This will be a substantial portion of the team’s time.

  • Our Engineering Future - While you will spend most of your time with the team in architecture, code reviews and strategic discussions, you will need to learn the ten year old codebase quickly, occasionally helping out in code as needed to keep velocity high and help the team achieve our goals. You will constantly help determine priorities, foster and deliver on realistic timelines and help the founders build a successful path forward for 2022 and beyond.

Your role

  • As a coach, you'll define and manage just enough processes to ensure the delivery of timely, high-quality product experiences. You'll keep the rest of the org informed on deliverables. You'll manage and grow (in every sense of the word) a diverse, world-class engineering team.

  • As a technologist, you should have incredibly solid previous hands-on experience building complex SaaS applications for millions of users over the past several years. While the majority of your time will not be hands-on, you will need to engender trust on our experienced team that you can dig in and troubleshoot should the need arise. Ideal candidates could be 20% hands-on but this is not a requirement and total hands-on would reduce over time.

    • You should have a deep understanding of computer science fundamentals like enterprise software architecture, design patterns, secure systems, and NoSQL databases.

    • Our stack is Java and Javascript- you should have worked with Node, React, Angular and Java at some point in your career.

    • Experience with mobile development in using iOS and Android applications is a bonus as is React Native experience.

    • Strong understanding of cloud architecture like GCP (primary) and AWS

    • Systems Engineering background including containerization with Docker and Kubernetes

  • As a strategist, you'll partner with the exec team. You'll define and effectively communicate a long-term technical vision, and inspire the team and our partners around a shared vision for impact.

Your Superpowers

  • Excel at managing and motivating teams in an efficient and effective “marathon-not-a-sprint” approach, while meeting ambitious business goals and providing healthy work/life balance

  • Genuinely empathetic and kind and you enjoy helping others level up

  • Love your work in improving the world as a technologist.

  • You have extensive experience making engineering teams wiser, more successful, and happier

  • Strong ability to develop, construct, test and maintain platform architectures

  • Intuition about when to be scrappy and when to be thorough

  • Deep understanding and a hands-on approach to keeping platforms performant and reliable

  • An affinity for ambiguity, open-ended problems, and wildly difficult challenges

  • A love of cross-functional collaboration and the ability to communicate effectively with non-technical partners

  • Strong EQ

  • Solid ability to say "no" and help people understand your “why”

What you can expect from us

  • Contribute to a product with impact that solves problems for a global audience

  • Receive medical, dental, and vision + life insurance + 401k

  • Generous vacation and generous sick day policies

  • Join a remote-first organization with a culture that provides a high level of autonomy

We offer competitive salaries and benefits that include comprehensive health coverage, stock options, quarterly caregiver credits, and a wide variety of social team events.

The salary range for this role is highly competitive at $200,000 to $275,000 plus full benefits, a strong equity stake and generous PTO and holiday structure.
